Signing on at other PC's

Hello, i have not been signed on spudfiles for God knows how long because i have had a household technology problem. My house got struck by lightning in the beginning of the summer so pretty much all my electronics that was hooked up to the internet got fried...(including my xbox and my air conditioner...). So my summer sucked, but to sum up the story, i couldn't log on to spudfiles as long as i wasnt on my own personal computer. i tried numerous times on the 5 different computers in my house and failed. i know i was using the right password because how could i be on now? Just wanted to ask if u guys have the same problem at your friends houses or something.

And btw, i think i got shocked by the lightning too because i was holding on to the fridge innocently grabbing some bagel bites and i felt like i got punched in the stomach by kimbo slice. i felt tingling on my fingers after, so was it actually possible i got hit, or was it just a tiny piece of it because i thought people died from that crap. obviously it wasn't a direct hit but i dont know what happened really. Although that part sucked, lightning is actaully pretty cool. it fused the sheetmetal on our air conditioner to the copper u bends and made some holes in the metal too. just thought i would share that part of the story too.

people have survived direct impacts of lightning but chances are the power was a lot lower because of resistance.

I have heard stories of people getting hit directly and they explained it as a powerful squeeze feeling on their chest like a lot of pressure. A few have gone into cardiac arrest because of it.

Onto the computer problem...

You should be able to access spudfiles on any computer as long you have an internet connection, cookies enabled, javascript enabled. I wonder if those other computers you tried didnt have one of those things enabled?

Were you able to access the website at all or could just not log in?

Yeah, you should be able to log in from anywhere. But what really throws me is why all your electronics got fried- do you have a surge supressor?

Evidently not hence the crispy console.

I have a specific problem with firefox where if I ask it to auto log me in it seems to log me in and out again after I click something, thus causing all new posts to vanish and appear as 0.

But never a problem logging in on any computer and I must have used dozens over the years in colleges, libraries and various ones at home, google claims I've visited spudfiles over 1050 times on this computer

I could access the site all day long, but for some reason the password was always invalid. Oh well, im on here now. :)
All of the things survived except the things connected to the internet. My xbox worked fine but the Ethernet port was fried, and a xbox without live is worthless to me..., and turnes out minor things and the network card were only fried as well on my computer.

Edit: and btw, there were 15,500 new messages...!

The only answer is that you are not using the correct password on the other computers. I can get on Spudfiles from any computer. Talk to PCGUY about a password change.

You experienced some of the major static discharge that surrounds lightening, reasonably common during lightening strikes and thunderstorms in general. You didn't get hit by a full lightening bolt....chances are very good you wouldn't be with us today if you did! The same charge build up that caused the lightening also caused your "mini" bolt. The same thing happened to me many years ago and I thought for a split second I was a goner....scared the living crap out of me.

I had a problem way back when my password stopped working, I got PCGUY to try it and it worked for him, so he changed it for me and then it's worked ever since.
