do you know how they make them? they "stamp"them out of allready heat treated plate, grind the angles fast and putse them into sale.

if i do a commercial talk now :D i dont make blades ass a mass produktion, i make them cause i enjoy making them. i do like 5-10 blades in a month, every one is made with care and precision, with blood and swet :D

I believe they "mass heat threat" them in a giant oven. I've seen the victorinox production lines, they work the same. I think heat treated band steel would put too much stress on the cutting tools.

I took a better picture to show the spacer:

I'll probably redo it with flat copper plates and better flux for a nicer result. This looks a bit bumpy and messy.

Your blades are also stronger I think, because they are differentially hardened. These blades are totally hardened I believe, making the tang more vulnerable to cracking or shattering.

There will still be a ruddy big spring twanging close to your ear, but ahead of the muzzle you should find it makes a significant difference :)

True. i might have time today to forge and sand the blade to heat treating condition

EDIT: damn, i dont have time today, but ill let you enjoy a new pic of the blade  still needs some hammering, ill forge it little wider and finish the back, then i sand it to be almost finished, i hit my makers mark to it, heat treat it, ill try a double quench on this one, ill temper it 2 times, wirst at 175c for hour and then 100c for hour, makes it more durable. and then its final sanding and polishing. its about hmm 2 hours of more work plus the tempering :)
