I want to build a nitro napalm thrower that will throw small fire balls to 10m.More like star wars style.

I wanted to biuld something like that a few years back. I wanted to make it spring-loaded. Back then I didn't know much about spud guns.
Have you thought about a design yet? You should post it in Submit Theories so we can all improve it if necessary.

I have an idea about launching small pieses of burning charckle but instead of useing comprest air it should use comprest O2.The only problem is that it is difficult to reload and it can't be adapted for auto combustion.

Its good to see that you havent got completly out of the hobby. Very nice indeed. I can see that the pilot fuel is propane, but what is the fuel for the flame thrower? Is the bottom leg of the tee fitting [Handle] blocked off?

I think it would have been "nicer" to of replaced the block of wood with something similar to the rear grip, but instead of having it capped, install a pipe saddle to secure the pilot torch.

i would think the ball valve would get hot, and would be pretty hard to turn off quickly in an emergency, i would have used the ball valve as a safety before a blowgun for the real trigger

a blow gun would never flow enough fuel.
not sure on the volume but for those math types out there, the virtical pipes are 24" long and the whole thing is 22" wide
the layout is exactly the way the customer wanted it with the exeption of the tank. he wanted it to only have 2 virtical pipes and be made of 4" pvc. i said no because of the cost. 4" fittings are about 25bux each.....plus the pipe. the price in parts using a 4" chamber would have been about 300 just because of the chamber.
pimpman, not sure what you mean but if it was mine, i would have put a 90* bend where the cap is on the rear grip, and run a pipe straight forward and then capped it. to that pipe running parallel to the main body of the gun i would have clamped the torch to it. but like i said, i didnt design any of it but the chamber. and more parts means more money and the price was negotiated for a specific set up and thats what he got.
testing with water, i got a distance of 35feet. not sure on the pressure used tho because i dont have a pressure gauge on it yet. maybe 90psi or less.
the fuel ill use is gasoline for testing but he plans to use lantern fuel or paint thinner...i cant remember. before i get a bunch of people saying gasoline eats pvc, no it doesnt! back when i was active on spudtech there was someone who tested it and found that gas did not soak into pvc. i decided to soak pvc in gas to test it myself just last week. the piece of pvc has been in gas for over a week in my garage and it shows no signs of weekening or being eaten away. the piece i cut off shows no indication that gas has absorbed into it and the pvc is as strong as ever
ill try fuel either tonight or tomorrow

are you going to just use compressed air? correct me if im wrong but that is dangerous because when it starts to run low on fuel the o2 inside the chamber and the gas can ignite because of lack of pressure pushing it all out.....(to be safe i have heard its good to use co2)

ya spudshot is right. keeps the flame from traveling up the line.

just tested it for the first time. OMG!!! is probably the best way to describe it. i first set my lawn on fire but it went out quickly. i then decided to go into the street. lit the street on fire but that went out after about 30 seconds. at 60psi of pressure in the chamber, i got a 37 foot flame. i messured from where i was standing to where the burn stain in the street ended. i didnt have my g/f on hand so i dont have any video or pics but ill get that tomorrow and post it.

http://www.chaffinchshoelace.com/view/2690/ i think this is where the person got the plans for u L13, or one of the many other sites that uses this flamethrower.

but on a side note, y not us another propane tank to pressurize the big tank, its stops the O2 problem and it keeps it at ~90psi without having to re-pump it up

(Most Credit towards BCP for propane pressure idea)

thats the exact link he sent me when he first asked if i could do it.

ive thought of the propane tank to pressurize the main tank. i have drawings for a flamethower that i drew up years ago that was just like the gun i just made but with propane as the air pressure. never got around to making it. its a good idea tho.

Isn't that what BCpneumatics does with his flamethrowers? And wouldn't the propane be the fuel too then?
