will last week i was using my hand pump to pump my air gun to 150 psi
the handle was plastic ,and i was all the time afraid from the handle broke with my hands .and this happen :( :(

i almost get serious injury if the pump rod moved to the wrong direction
thanks god that didn't happen,

that what you get when you try to get 150 psi from a hand pump with
35 mm inner diameter. i think who have like this pump can get just 100 psi with it

so hand pump with plastic handles ,be careful

some picture to see what exactly what i talking about

this rod get through my hand with the nut on it :D :D

Ouch.. I guess I'm lucky my plastic handle didn't break. The check valve did.

Aii, that must've been scary (and painful).
You may indeed be glad that the pump didnt go "pneumatic ram"
This happened to BTB, with a homemade pump on 80 bar, when the check valve failed....

Ecking yowtch. How did you get the rod out?

Wouldn't take a leap of imagination to see how much worse it could have been.

If you've got the nerves left to use it again, make the handle from metal.

Mine has a wooden handle but because I'd make a paranoid person look sloppy I actually press more or less in the centre when overpumping to put the least strain on the handle where the pump shaft joins.

Far cry, I'm glad it wasn't more serious, and thank you for posting this. It should serve as a warning to many of us.

Far too often we become complacent with "everyday" objects,..giving them a better opportunity to "bite" us.

Speaking for myself, I'll be replacing the pvc handle on my pump with steel.

lol I thought that living in the middle east is dangerous but you proved that spudding in the middle east is asking for troubles

EDIT
always take all the safety precautions you can... safety has always been the main issue for me... yet I had quite a lot of potentially dangerous situations... but I think they would have ended worse If I hadn't been treating safety so seriously...

That is not the prettiest injury I've ever seen. Mind you, it's not the ugliest either - that honour probably goes to the kid that set off a blasting cap in his mouth.

Interestingly, my pump has a plastic shaft and a metal handle - but that's the way I made it! I'm not particularly concerned about it breaking, given that the way it's made it could take the weight of a small car...
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Great reminder to never ever put body parts in line with something that may suddenly recoil with high energy.

Always good to consider "what will this thing do if it breaks". Just like when using a power tool, "what will this thing do if it suddenly grabs the wood instead of cutting the wood?" Know where the danger zone is and stay the heck out of it.
