So, unfortunately I didn't use the filter that tech told me about and I was carried away looking at stuff...

When i got back, I had a load of spyware that kept linking me to this anti-spyware site...

Questions:
Will it harm SF's if I log on using that laptop?

Is there a way to capture the messed up crap (bottle it) and e-mail or give it to some site I don't like?

What's the best/ cheapest way to get it off my laptop???

Is there a way to find out the owner's name of the site selling the "anti-virus" who obviously generated it???

Thanks in advance...not sure when I'll be able to get back, surprised it hasn't caught up and kept me from this post...
(I did go through my files and delete everything created on that date BTW).
Thanks. 8)

Can't really look for it now.
It's in POLAND_SPUD's repeater thread.

This crap is taking over again...I usually go by traditional mafia type rule but I swear to G... I will kill this whole effer's family when I get the proper info...it will be...

Anyhow, It really takes over all my laptop's functions.
Please someone give me the info...a roadtrip with the thing I have in mind might be fun or meaningfull...

Try this:

http://www.free-av.com/en/tools/12/avir ... ystem.html

Follow the wizard to burn it to a blank CD, then just pop it in the CD drive and reboot. This boots into Linux to run a virus check so it'll prevent the virus from hijacking Windows. Run the scan, then try Windows again...if it works run:

http://download.cnet.com/3001-8022_4-10 ... 2c75db427a

This nifty little program can delete "locked" files, and is just totally awesome.

If it's really that bad, you might be looking at a reformat.

Really s*cked to keep having pregnant girl pics and stuff pop up.
Most of those help some then charge $$$ to do more.
Still cheaper than I thought.
Thanks! 8)

Are you saying that someone gave you a link on here to purchase a fake antivirus program that turned out to be a virus?
Yes, I am the guy that owns & operates SpudFiles (along with our extremely helpful moderators).

No.
Not on here at all.
My one question was whether it is safe to log on here (with that laptop) or will it effect this site (for others)???

I was surfing the net, looked at nasty pics/vids somewhere,
and picked up some mess that kept linking me to "security" programs, (obviously generated by the source of the problem). 8)

Nothing that is on your computer can harm SpudFiles by visiting or using the site.

If the infection is THAT bad I suggest that you may need to contact a professional, since the usual simple automatic removal tools can only do so much.

this is the link to the thread -> http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/i-has-s ... rt,30.html

almost any anti virus programme could prevent that... kaspersky or ESET NOD32 works great against the most annoying threats such as w32 salient clones....
also firefox mozilla does a pretty good job at blocking off malicious sites

lol pregnant girls... you are a pervert

So every time you tried to go to a website it automaticly took you some where else? Thats a hijacker spam, they suck. Are you using IE8? If so, are you running it in protected mode? IE7 also can run in proteced mode.

IE is good only for downloading Mozilla Firefox as soon as you reformat your system...

I know what you are going through - I had to reformat mine 5 times in the past two or three months...

Maybe time to move to an OS that isn't the #1 target of malware.

Ubuntu is free.

...and makes you have an urge to perform a self-lobotomy with your keyboard.

At least that was my experience with it

Anyways, you can avoid almost any issues with decent security software, which is also free.

I was losing sanity to the constant security updates.

Ubuntu doesn't run Windows programs.. or malware.
I use it for web browsing in non administrator mode. No privileges to install software.. no accidents. no rebuilds, no surprises.

Firefox, Gimp and Open Office take care of 98% of what I want to do online worry free.
