I need between 30 minutes (snap hook slingshot) and 8 hours (the Gatling slingshot) for a new design.

I usually make a new sling on a Saturday morning, fine tune it in the afternoon, play with it in front of the TV in the evening (with a couple of beers), and then make a video on the Sunday.

You'd be surprised how strict laws are outside of America. Like for example in NZ and Australia, a cricket bat is just normal sports equipment. Carry it around with you at night and you could get arrested for position of an offensive weapon. Carry a knife on you at anytime in public without a damn good reason (fishing, sailing, hunting, tramping etc) and the same thing could happen.

I don't think you can even carry slingshots in public in Aus and NZ, but you can in Germany. Though it does seem weird that slingshots are legal and wristbraces aren't. My guess is just that wristbraces are turning slingshots in to more of a weapon, and if slingshots are just for plinking, you shouldn't need a wristbrace.

Don't always assume homicide, slingshots could be used for assault very easily, if I owned a dairy and some guy walks in pointing a loaded slingshot in my face, i'm not going to hesitate in handing over the money unless there's a chance I can disarm him and restrain him.

What do you do with 50 or so slingshots?

The ban of braced slingshots came when a bunch of demonstrants in the 1970's shot steel balls from cheap, braced slingshots against the heavily armed cops. The balls damaged a few shields and other equipment, so even though noone was hurt, the government banned braced slingshots.

This is not uncommon, at least parts of Australia have the same laws, and slingshots are totally banned in some US states (e.g. New Jersey, I believe). In the Netherlands, you may buy pot, but you may not own a slingshot.

There are several guys from the German slingshot community, small as it is, that do not appreciate my work because they think I am a walking provocation for the government... so they are afraid of a "lex JoergS", banning slingshots entirely.

I disagree, I think it takes a few scandalous crimes to set politicians in motion. And I do not intend to commit crimes.

Not always, sometimes it's just scaremongering killjoy organisations like the Violence Policy Center that drum up enough support for fun stuff to be outlawed.
