Besides, the tungsten carbide stuff is really expensive... I think hardened steel it is.

I found a serious flaw in my sample gun, the barrel and the "rails" are not perfectly aligned. This will no doubts reduce the speed much.

I will fix this next weekend, hopefully the results will improve.

Hmm, interesting. Can Tungsten Carbide be welded to stainless steel?

My experiences with the slingshot gun clearly say that a fat welding seam is the only attachment method that survives the kick.

Article: Ohio Inventors Develop Stainless Steel Welding Method

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 22 -- Gerald S. Frankel and John C. Lippold, both of Columbus, Ohio, have developed a method for welding stainless steel.

According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A chromium-free welding consumable and a method of welding stainless steel to reduce the presence of chromium emissions. The consumable is made from an alloy that reduces the emission of chromium during a welding process, and include predominantly nickel, with between approximately five and twenty five percent by weight copper, up to approximately five percent by weight of palladium, up to approximately ten percent by weight of molybdenum and up to five percent .

Perhaps brazing would join SS to TC?

HOWEVER!!

I don't believe that welding/joining is necessary.

Your slingshot is comparable to hitting a rock with a chisel and a hammer.

The chisel is not welded to the hammer.

Your 'chisel' is a TC rod.

Capture the rod on your sled and see how well it works.

I am very excited about your design.

Back to the roots!

A simple, conventional slingshot with Thera Tube Black.

But very elegant, polished brass and 10 mm stainless steel.

The special thing is that I had to bend the fork after the round steel rod was already fixed to the handle, otherwise it wouldn't fit through the 10mm hole in the brass.

A highlight of my collection!

In the theme of the mass Firefly quoting from last night's chat, I feel the best statement here is "Shiny".

A new video is just uploading, this time it's a walk through my slingshot arsenal, showing and shooting my top 14 slingshots. This new one is featured in the vid.

you should build a mega sling shots, one that has to winched back.

either that or a hand-held ballista.

Just a few days before 200.000 youtube views will be reached, The Slingshot Channel got the subscriber no. 500!

Daniel, the gentleman who was lucky enough to be no. 500, will get a free Jörg Sprave slingshot, handmade and ready for shooting.

Daniel would like to introduce himself with a few words. Here they are:

-----------------------

Hello everyone, my name is Daniel, I'm Joerg's 500th subscriber.
I might be your average guy, might not.

Not a spiritually religious man, but Love is my God and Loyalty is my religion.
I live for my family. Not much else matters to me in this world aside from them.

I have an artistic side of my own; i make knives and walking staves, canes, hiking sticks, etc. and I'm anxiously looking forward to receiving Joerg's shipment of my first slingshot, to help me learn a more sporting, skillful way of shooting.

I recently became interested in slingshots and so decided to look around Youtube to find general information on the subject. This led me to Joerg's channel, and i must say I'm pertty impressed with what I've seen.

Joerg's seem to be the "Desert Eagles" of the slingshot world, very well done; simple, yet still powerful and effective. Well done. I loved the video of the pig-leg damage, very indicative of the power these things have.

Thank you for your consideration, Joerg.

Have A Great Day, Everyone.
