Joerg,
Nice work with everything... videos and high speed give a great look at power. Is there any reason you can't use mechanization to pull for you? Or set up like crossbow?

Yes, legal reasons. Germany has just about the strictest gun laws possible, except maybe the UK.
Non wrist braced slingshots are legal. Add a stock and it is banned. Add a trigger and it is banned.
Rubber looses power very quickly when you keep it in stretched condition. So a crossbow is not a great idea anyway.

I doubt anyone here has enough strenght to pull that thing.
Not to mention aim it like you can.
I could really use bands like that for a speargun style weap#*...I mean toy..

Hey on the theraband scale what would normal sling shot bands correspond to, also what would be a realistic color for long range shots with all kinds of ammo, black?
Finally i have an excuse, besides girls, to do push and pull ups!

Your design in vid reminds me of a sligshot called "the Bat" that I recently handled. But "the Bat" seemed a little light weight.
(can't remember manufacturer)

if a very large muclular guy like your self can barrly pull it back, then i couldnt do &h!* with a sling shot that powerfull. just anougher downside to being tall and skinny.....

I'm willing to bet thats likely the most powerful slingshot in existence. If I am wrong, i'd love to see why. Maybe i'll pick up the dumbells and start hitting my back so I can pull such a beast.

just another wonderfull slingshot invention by joerg. that would be great for use in a painballgame its silent and easy multiple shots, just upgrade it to shoot paint balls.
also (hope i dont get in trouble for this) i think it wuld be quite good for, uh, collecting small game and such for ones consumption.

But seriously, many people hunt with slingshots. In the UK, this is very popular as they took away all other weapons.
It is said that the game does not see the slow, heavy bullets coming and does not run away. That is a common problem for the bow hunters, the game will run away when they see the approaching arrow and you have to anticipate that.

I really don't think this is a factor with arrows travelling at several hundred feet per second and bowhunting ranges being kept short.
Then again:
The percussion cap system was developed by Rev. Alexander John Forsyth as a solution to the problem that sitting birds would startle when smoke puffed from the powder pan of his flintlock shotgun, giving them sufficient warning to escape the shot. Well, when I was in the US a couple of months ago, I watched the outdoor channel and they had a piece about bow hunters. These guys sit in the bush for hours, waiting for deer to approach a watering hole. They try to get as close as possible, but in any case it was clear that they had to aim ahead.
Deer has an unbelievable reflex to jump away, so even fast arrows are simply too slow.

Maybe i'll make a wrist rocket slingshot with a step motor that retracts the ridiculous bands. You could take out an elk with something like that. I bet those loppy beasts are friggin slow.

They even took away air rifles? Thats more popular there than it is here. BTw werebt air rifle silencers legal in the uk?

True, some of them even jump automatically, even after being hit in the head and technically dead.
They even took away air rifles? Thats more popular there than it is here. btw weren't air rifle silencers legal in the uk?
Not as far as I know, it's perfectly legal to hunt vermin (rabbits, rats, pigeons etc.) on private land as long as you're doing it humanely, and air rifle silencers are also within the law.

I do not know about the UK, but I think they can still have air rifles. I have no idea if they can use them for hunting. All I know is that they do hunt with slingshots.
In Germany, air rifles are available w/o a license if the energy is under 7,5 Joules (175 m/s or 573 feet/s with a .177 pellet).
For those castrated air rifles, silencers are legal. But such a weakling does not make much noise anyway.
