me n friend go bored and was playing with gunpowder out of .22 bullets, then i wrapped some poweder in some tape and lit it, it was sealed at one end and make a rocket, so we were like WOAH, this is gonna be awsome. So we took the gunpoweder out of 2 10ga buckshot shells and made a tape rocket, just layed out some masking tape and twisted one end and it rolled out nicely. so we put a good amount of gunpowder in it and lit the end, and wwssssh i took off went a good 15'. so were going to a hardware store to get some pvc and some 20grain hunter (or whatever they have) gunpowder.

were going to experiment with paper towel rolls first using a metal funnel as the nozzel. we think the gunpoweder will at least melt the nozzel made of pvc, so were going to go metal. any suggestions on body width and height?

That's solid spudgun propelents, and does not pertain to rockets.
"devices that may throw shrapnel" do. Disolve your gunpowder in acetone and allow to dry to prevent a CATO incident.

What's CATO? I better add this sentence so my post is long enough.

As I said, it disolves it. This will allow you to 'cast' it as a solid chunk, and without the air pockets, it will burn much slower and more consistently... preventing a Catostrophic Accident on Take Off.

if u crush it up it will be more powerfull, do not use pvc pipe

...hits urbana ninja.
*We don't want a fast burn rate.
*A powder can't be cast and won't form a good propelent grain.

Remember to use dowel to make a hollow core down the middle so that it burns quickly enough.

Its funny that this topic was started because I was launching matchrockets earlier today ( tiny rockets about 2.5 to 3 cm long, made of aluminium foil and a single match head. They fly anywhere from 0 to 5 metres)

You could use PVC pipe but it would probably melt so I whould recommend the stuff they use for rockets in garden firework set because the don't melt.
