On mythbusters tonight I saw they used a cannon to launch slush drinks. Did any one else?

It reminded me of tech's qdv...

Does anyone know what type of cannon it was?

I was thinking maybe a spool valve...

What was that tank that held the air? It looked like the valve was incorperated into the tank.

Yeah it looked like a propane tank. That's why I thought spool valve.

I have no idea how this one works but is probably works a lot like a QDV

then there is this one

this one uses a solenoid actuated valve, here is a pic of the valve from a different episode where they showed a close up

they used the big red one in another episode to, when they tested if a car going forwards at 80mph and a gun shooting backwards would at 80mph would end up with the round just falling straight down.

That type valve is a large QEV used on hoppers to relieve gravel and such that jams and stops flowing. I've seen them used. They are used in the cement and coal industries. The piston in them is shaped like a hockey puck, so the style is a QEV, not a QDV. The cut away view on their site shows the valve housing is in the rear of the tank.
