Wow, are you in Aus? For the record, the rifle stock you guys saw on my first pneumatic, I bought it from a gun store and I am 14. I know its just a stock, but in other country's they would probably be wondering why someone would want to buy a rifle stock at 14, let alone let the person buy it. The guys who sold it to me actually gave me ideas on what I should do, such as buy a bayonet for it...

I know in NZ you can buy a rifle stock at any age, we can also buy projectiles and shells without being 18/having a licence as well, just not the powder.

NZ isn't as bad as Aussie when it comes to firearms, though our handgun laws sound similar. I'm in full support of the handgun laws though, no one in NZ really needs to have one since no one else does. I think less than 10% of police are allowed to carry one and I think it may even have to be in a lock box in their cruiser. Think the UK is the same too. The handgun laws in the U.S. are probably justified since it doesn't seem that difficult to get a handgun if you're a criminal and lots of criminals seem to have them.

I think the licensing system is fine, I'd like to see the magazine capacity limits taken off handguns, .22 semi auto rifles as class A, same as any other .22, and air rifles only needing a safety course.

We can only have handguns for target shooting, so I wouldn't mind that being relaxed, join pistol club, apply for license, wait 6 months and then start buying pistols.

Out here, rifle stocks aren't covered, shot and bullets (not loaded rounds) aren't licensed either, it's up to the shop, never asked about brass though.

Also, we can't have "military pattern" rifles, which means I can't get an FAL with the gas system welded up (It becomes a straight pull bolt action).

The no "military pattern rifles" clause is particularly troubling because it also eliminates any chance of you guys getting cheap surplus rifles.

We can get Nagants and Enfields out here still, it's a really stupid clause, it can't be evil babby seeking, soccer "mom" gibbing, full auto rotating barrel 800 round belt clip fed black "tactical" firearms.

We pay about $400 for a shitty Mosin Nagant anyway, cheaper to buy a secondhand Savage .308

I'm still upset that I can't get an FAL, one of the main reasons I'd like a mill capable of machining the reciever from scratch.

Anyway, I'm off to find some detailed schematics for the NAA mini master and this nice semi .22S Berreta, I need to work out what I can and can't do on a Sherline mill (once I have enough monies naturally).

Crap nugget: Bad stickybolt, measure accuracy in degrees, barrel is pitted like a 25 year olds' acne-scarred face, and you can't get the cosmoline out of the rifling, even after 20 hotloaded 7.62x54r.

Good nugget: Managable stickybolt, shoots like a dream, bore is ok, cosmoline comes off with a few hours work, reels in the russian girls.

God tier nugget: No stickybolt.

JSR, I adore nuggets, it's just we hardly get good nuggets here, Lee Enfields are our nuggets here, they can be below $350.

In your part of the world I can understand the 0.303 to be more prevalent

Zeus, are your Mosin's really $400? They can be had for $300NZD here if you find someone selling those refurbished sets second-hand.

Got mine for $150 (freshly cosmolined out of the crate! 1929), with 400 Bulgarian bullets for another $65. Dropping it into one of these:

-when it gets done being inletted! Keeping it "traditional" and only putting peep sights on it...

Heck, if this guy can take out a bunch-o-natzi's with one, it must be decent (even if he was using a finish variant...)

In hindsight, I don't know what I was thinking using PVC. Didn't think it through. The centripetal/centrifugal forces got it, I guess? Anyhow I have to rethink my chuck. 3 hours of work for nothing. Well, at least I know not to use PVC next time. So you probably know what my current project it now :tongue3:

Wow, that was a pretty close call. At least you had the presence of mind to kneel down, I know some guys who probably would have invited their buddies over, crowded around it, and tossed firecrackers into it while it was spinning.
