My brother's truck for example
Sweet!

How nice that your parents have at least one heterosexual son :D

I'm joking, I'M JOKING! :D
Jack, what you really want is a Chevy
I'm pretty sure that what I want is what you term a "full size pickup truck". And it has to be American.

The choices I've noted are the Dodge Ram, Ford F-150, GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado. They're all very pretty, but the Ram is the one which caught my eye the most.
I drove into town a few weeks ago to purchase one. I woke up the next day and found that not only did I not purchase one, but I was told that a total stranger had given me $50,000 Angioplasty! It sounds like an elegant Italian sports car. I hope it's a convertible!

You lost me there hehehe, either I missed a complex pun or it's erudite PUI :D
Where in Canada will you be relocating? Ready for snow country?
Quebec City. I've experienced snow before, started 2013 in Siberia at -35°C - but never lived in it for an extended period. It can't be worse than the hot humid heat I'm living in now :)

No pun intended......I drove to the dealership, but woke up in the hospital. My new truck will be on hold.

Ouch. Were you stunned by how low the price seemed for such an enormous engine?

If anyone tries to keep you from your vices, remind them that not all those who die have truly lived :D

Sorry to hear that! Hope you are doing fine now!

I had a heart attack for 7 hours while deer hunting 18 years ago, at the age of 48 before I went to the hospital.
Clogged arteries, luckily just cholesterol lowering drugs and no stint.

Then 9 years ago diagnosed with emphysema and now considered handicapped.

Yes getting old is a real pain!

Good luck to you and stay away from smoking!

Hidden behind the car’s rear numberplate were a dozen homemade shotgun barrels aimed at the driver’s seat in the Mercedes. Police believe the exploding car was empty all along, suggesting that the attack was launched via remote control.
Should have used APFSDS darts...

edit 2:

To steer the conversation back to woman-bashing, loved this quote :D
Women are a holiday. Don't live there.

wow

did they:
A try to limit collateral damage
B thought explosives are so last season
C just wanted to send the message we've got crazy ideas and we're not afraid to test them out

Maybe they had watched The Jackal.

There have been crazier ideas tried... if the Mercedes wasn't armoured the thing would have most likely worked.

They could have used a single barrel firing a shaped charge, though this would have been harder to achieve and would have required the use of high explosives. The "shotgun" could easily have used black powder which is much easier to obtain.

I'm guessing they used poor penetrating projectiles (steel balls, nuts, bolts or similar) and possibly poor wadding too.

I wonder if the fire was intentional to destroy evidence, or simply a result of the blast.

The IRA pulled off something similar in 1991, but on a larger scale, the intended victims were extremely lucky to escape unharmed. The van used contained an incendiary device to eliminate clues:

If one were making an electronic grab bag of parts for hobbyist electronics (radio, logic, communications, control, etc.), what would you typically buy?

I was figuring a variety of transistors, 741 op amps, comparators, 4017 counters, signal/rectification diodes, crystals (although those can usually be pulled from scrap), LED's (obviously), photodioes, hall effect sensors, piezo elements... anything else?

Don't forget breadboards or breakout boards. :)

Some unique timer chips like the ICM7240, ICM7242, ICM7250 which Maxim now makes. These were formally Intersil products.

You will find these are much better than 555 timers.
They have "built in" counters and have much better noise immunity than 555's because of positive edge triggering.

A good selection of "mylar" capacitors for stability, accuracy and tolerance for any timer circuits.

These are fantastic, I have used one for 35 years.

I would get the kit!!!!
