another idea is to name it something it replicates. e.g my GB pneumatic will be called "3 wood" as it will shoot futher then a 3 wood drive by tiger woods 8)
or i might name it "Mrs. God" a song by the band Helloween
and most people refer to thier SpudGun creations as females like ships and cars. e.g "shes a beut" just be weird saying "he's a beut"

i find a feature on my cannons and name them. i havent posted any of my cannons yet because i am lazy and i have 56k so it takes to long to upload the photos. but back to the name look at it and find something about it you like or give it a paintjob and name it after the paintjob.

Funny names are the best. My first pneumatic cannon was called enema by my friend because my other friend accidentaly shot a paintball at his butt so google enema and you'll know why. my other cannon was called mofo and i have a new galvanized steel cannon coming out that i will fill with helium to see if i can make it "supersonic"... i have no idea what to call it.

I personally name guns by referring to a National Naming Committee.

I personally call all of my guns my "Spudguns". I'm not too sure how many people actually do this though.

M3NT4L i just ran a few names through a english-german translator and the best i got was the name"Schallstahl" which means sonic steel 8)
if not that try song names like i might name a cannon after a Iron Maiden song called Afraid To Shoot Strangers or ATSS for short 8)

Going by acronyms, how about POS ? jk,jk. Having a good name for a cannon is not overly important, but if you post some crappy name for a cannon like "jim" (no offense to any jims out there ), no one will read your topic

I personally like gun names that indicate and partically specify the cannon its naming. One of my personal favs as far as gun names goes is the "Blue Flame". It denotes that it is a combustion by the "flame" tag. Now, I dont have a terribly good track record as far as naming goes, but I admit my naming sucks. Names like "White Mammoth" leave you wondering...

I named my gun COAX-1 because it is my first coaxial cannnon... I almost named it BSCPC because it is a barrel sealing coaxial piston cannon... lol

lets talk america because theyre the most well known and its probably where your from. (and they use the two guns you mentioned)

first, they dont name em after the maker. The "barret .50" could refer to the m82, m95, m107, and all the a1, a2, etc of those rifles. The m16 isnt named after its creater either, or it would be the armalite. Or colt, if you go by producer. Theyre all actually given a designation when in testing (XM) and then it loses the x and possibly the number after it changes too. Theres pretty much no names for them, except sometimes nicknames.

Second, the m16 didnt start as the m1. The M1 (garand) was a rifle used in world war 2 and it was completely different. it also refers to the bayonet designed for the same gun. dunno about the m2 or m3, cant be bothered looking em up to find out and they might not even exist. The m4 is a carbine version of the m16, developed significantly after the introduction of the m16. In actual fact, the m16 has always been the m16 (it was the ar15 before modification and adoption to the army) and when it gets updated, it goes m16, m16 a1, m16 a2, m16 a3, etc. Currently were on m16 a4, but thats not the only one in service.
