I just bought a two-pack of the LG A19 lamps from Costco. They're listed as 40W replacements and only use 7.5W to produce 485 lumens.

It was my first experience with drop-in LED "bulbs" and I was quite impressed with the brightness and color of the light. These things get hot, though. Way too hot to touch; I actually burnt myself on one. This concerns me because heat is the enemy of LEDs. I don't expect them to last very long, but I expect technology will improve.

I'll have to look for the two pack. I have a single. Unlike the 2.5 watt bulbs, this bulb is listed as dimmable. The 2.5 watt bulbs buzz badly when run on an inverter or placed on a dimmer even at full brightness. The 7 watt runs well but as noted, the heatsink runs very hot. At nearly 500 lumens, it produces plenty of light. My only complaint besides the heat, is the heat-sink prevents light output from the bottom half of the bulb. This makes it a poor choice for a floor lamp next to the sofa. It lights the ceiling well but puts no light on your TV guide. Due to these limitations, I have put the bulb in a reflector clamp lamp and put it in my car. It makes a great trouble light. The color is very close to an incandescent bulb. Not having a glass bulb in my trunk is a good thing.
