I've made adaptors on a few occasions, even successfully machined the bolt of an electro-pneumatic paintball gun.

You could shave a small section off, hopefully centred enough to still get a true 12mm section.

Can you borrow one of these off a plumber ?

Roll of paper towels, a drift pin and a heavy hammer says you can put it together pack in the paper towels until you get the expansion you need.

How about using old airgun pellets instead

Make two tapered plugs or wedges to fit on each end of the "hinge". Drill both and thread one. Using a screw to connect them, you can adjust the amount of friction the hinge applies to the rings.

While elegant, also rather more complex than I need. I've got 14 of these to do, so any solution needs to be fairly simple.

But I think I've got enough ideas to try for now.

Yes. As far as how I am, I'm fairly sure I'm not dead.

Fortunately, all the effort I put into sculpting the Battle Sister (<a href="http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy3/ ... .jpg">Link to a photo that really doesn't do her justice</a>) was all worth it when I finally got to get her into a game.

Turns out that fanatical battle nuns with power armour, a weapon where "what you'd get if you bolted a chainsaw to an automatic shotgun loaded with rocket boosted grenades" is an understatement and no understanding of subtlety are rather entertaining to play in games.

Actually, on this note, I'll be running my first tabletop wargaming event later this month, which is what the topic question ultimately ties into. I've been gamesmastering roleplay games for a while now - as a result I now have enough ranks in the "making it all up as I go" skill to cross-class in management - but this is the first tabletop event I've headed.

- Not much drawing. Backwards and forwards laptop faults have made it pretty tricky to get on with the drawings I'd like to be doing.

- Ever increasingly long hair. About a foot long now. Time taken for a shower appears to have increased.

- I'll likely get back to spudding at some point in the future, although it's probably going to be some time before the dog can be acclimatised to being around garden artillery.

With volume levels in mind, maybe I'll possibly finally get to those coilgun plans one day.

thought id post that, no ideas about your hinge tho.

Take a piece of rubber hose that will fit in .Take a bolt some washers and a nut and compress the rubber hose as required.
This makes it adjustable to your liking.

I dropped out cause of the B.S.

I'd first like to mention something along these lines... a test plug, if you can find one the right size, would work the same way (the plugs you tighten with a screw).

Secondly, why not just remove a little more material from the inner part of the hinge (to make the diameter smaller), and then line the outer parts with some felt or another material.

Only reason it's not used in real life is because it takes to long to reload!

A note about your gun shy dog, if she see's what's making the noise and that it wont hurt her she will get used to it. We retrained a Beagle who got shot, took about 2 months but she hunted again with great resluts. Her name was Joann.

In this case, the latter. I can't really stand going for second best with my sculpting. I'll often rework areas several times before they're done.

Well, I can't comment on what is art and what isn't, because it's all subjective. But I still know that it's mostly taught horribly.

When things like "Paint still life", "draw a portrait" and such like are just set as lesson tasks, I honestly can't think of many worse ways to put off possible artists.
It's not likely to entertain most of the class, and the students are probably going to be more put off by how much not like a bowl of fruit their work looks at the end of it all than actually educated.

Art is one of those things that most people have to learn how to learn, and that's a step that's just completely omitted from most school classes.

Thus proving he is also the most emasculated gundog in the world as well.

Not to worry though, we get that one a lot. It's something about the way he looks (and the gender ambiguous name probably doesn't help either) that means a lot of people think he's a she-dog.

As to the actual point, the thing is, he's a rescue dog, so he's got a lot of weird quirks that we don't know where they've come from.
I'm sure it's possible, but it's probably going to take a while.

Good for you....a very noble act indeed. We just lost a Golden that I rescued 15 years ago. I "convinced" the former, abusive owners to "give" her to me.
