As i mentioned earlier at Offtopic thread, i got a new toy. Well, not exactly new, this is from the year 1991.

As we had a big storm just after christmas, we had ALOT of fallen trees at our forrest few click's away from my cave, we needed something to get those out of the deep and dark forrest. First, we started looking for old tractors. As we noticed that they are just way too large, we decided that what we need is a powerful quad. This is what the truck brought yesterday...

May i introduce, my (new) Suzuki quadrunner 250 4WD -91.


This thing has 18 gears (15 forward and 3 reverse), and the Suzukis 250cc 1 cylinder engine packs a nice punch!

Quads always look smaller in pictures from my experience

Anyway jake, do you have any kind of unique tree species growing around that you make knife handles from, or is it mostly common stuff? About the most exotic stuff I had available was walnut/black locust. Made a bow from walnut once, and it looked pretty nice.

that is indeed a funny question quads in my area are huge, king quad 1000 , raptor 700, the utilitys are huge!!

Exotic trees? Nah, mostly pine, spruce and birch. Sometimes you can indeed find curly birch from south finland.

jsefcik: trust me, this is kinda big. The pic you linked looks actually kinda like my Kymco mxu 50, so pics doesn't give justice to the real size

I would love to have spruce and birch in my area, they both have so many uses. You should try and find some alder trees and use the root to make a handle. Also have you ever tried tapping those birch trees?

Very nice, good call with the engine, having rode a 500 and a 250, the 500 wasn't really worth it. I can wheelie the 250, it's lighter, and you get further on a tank of fuel.

I can't stand quads normally, but I've got a trailer the same size as JSR's picture...

Haven't tried tapping birch, but i make jam and juice from spruce sprout. Tasty, and has VERY much vitamin C, the best flu medicine i know!

Zeus: We though about getting 500cc quad, we understood that this one is far better than a 500cc we could get with the same price. As we have a Kymco made 50cc quad, we know'd what we are dealing whit never quads.

When the large Polaris and Cam-am quads were being designed, these things were carrying huge logs!

Yeah, people always think a bigger engine is better for everything. Never underestimate 250s, and never buy an auto quad. The yamaha auto I rode could barely get me over a steepish hill in 2nd, nearly full throttle.

bigger quads that are autos, simlilar to the king quad , those things can move!!!!!

if the quad you were in couldnt get you over the hill, how big was the hill?tires bald?

I don't like quads feel way safer on my 2 wheel bikes.
I have a CR150RB that thing hammers i keep up to most 250s.

Crna: i like 2 wheelers too, but in the forrest, quad is a must

And here in finland we have so icy and cold winters, a 50cc quad is a nice if you live in the countryside like me, easy, safe and FUN to get to school etc.

And why 50cc? my license only covers moped-classed vehicles, and so called "light motorcycles (max, 125cc/11kw)", as well as tractors. Tractor quad is very expensive, the Kymco costed like 800€ and it too works like a charm!
