One day? Surely they can do it already... in terms of technology that is.

there might be something to it you know
though I suspect it would be a much better idea to use jamming than guns

Yup... CIWS can be swarmed.
One of these maybe

... when they make it smaller of course

heh nice find
but I was thinking more in terms of a turret that points directional antenna at the drone and jamms either the GPS signal, RX on the drone or video transmiter
Here's a pretty simple setup that could easily carry a BBMG setup, kind of expensive, but it's a "just add weapons" sort of setup

2kg of payload is more than enough for a heck of a BBMG... I don't think I would buy a pre-made frame though, still envision the outriggers being pressure vessels, it makes sense in the same way that wet wings do.
Given how manouverable these things are, I don't think I would bother with an independently trainable gun either, just aim the whole thing.

I could probably get one of those laser cut for my quadrotor next time I visit uni
I'm not quite sure I like it though. It does have to keep the rotors running even when stationary. Of course the versions with wheeled landing gear don't protect from collisions in flight but then obstacle avoidance is something that needs to be worked on anyway.
I'm hoping to get some proper testing done on my system soon.
I ended up getting one of those Hubsan X4 mini quadcopters. The most they'll lift with any flight time is about 30g, but they have auto-level and are really easy to fly. It's worth getting something like that just to learn to fly and save money on crashing a larger one.
