I know I was very often, especially when my spudding budget collided with other needs (In this case, a decent computer for computer science classes).

Spudding truly is a gateway to all engineering fields and the skills learnt from building launchers comes in handy very often.

This computer Hybrid saved me 700$ had I bought a laptop equivalent in any store.

I3-3220
GTX650 (GTX 670m equivalent)
Dead silent cooling system (4x120mm silent fans)
60gb SSD and 160gb HDD
Wifi, HD screen, Keyboard, etc.

All those goodies for 600$. Its runs Nexuiz at 150fps, at ultra/maxed out.

If you need a good portable computer but you are torn apart by a tight budget, give it a try.

Very nice build, far better than all those riced up towers. Planning to put a 12v ATx supply and SLA in the backpack?

The PSU is already in there, it's a 300W one. What do you mean by SLA, Zeus ? The first box you can see in the picture with the bag open is where every single component of the computer rests. The gpu, cpu, psu and both drives. The other white panel is the screen and keyboard.

mike the design is very simple. It's a box with the motherBoard fixed on it along with the PSU and the drives. The only tricky part was to have the graphic card to lay in parallel to the motherboard. I stripped off the cooling fan and used a 10" pcie extension to have it lay flat and as close as possible to the motherboard.

Then you glue 4x 120mm fans together and have them blow air directly over the naked heatsinks of the GPU, PSU and CPU.

That's crazy, would be hilarious to see someone whip that out for a lecture at uni :D

Very nice! Just don't take it to a metropolitan centre with trigger happy police, bunch of wires coming out of a rucksack... they'll shoot first and not even bother to ask questions later.

Maybe that already happened a few times :D The look on people's faces is priceless. The staring ends up being quite annoying tough.

Now, now, don't let a few of the members convince you all others are the same.

Most comments on the post are moronic and uninformed replies, but all in all it only is an oversized community where some few decided to give a bad name to the whole.
