Not surprised :)

I'm here at the moment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyumen

Unfortunately the Germans didn't advance so far so they don't care much for military memories here, all the museums are connected to oil and gas

Most things in Russia can be had if the price is right ;)

What? Do they really sell them  ? How much?

I don't know if the museum sells them, but they can definitely be purchased on the militaria market, for example: http://www.german-uboats.com/item600.htm

Interestingly from here: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/de1945su.html
For many years the German flags were thought to have been burned after the parade, but actually they ended up on display in the Moscow Red Army Museum, where if you have an extra $35,000 available you can now buy one!

Damn they are expensive, also I'm not looking for authentic ones either, I'm not good at keep nice things  and the Nazi symbol will get me into trouble. Once bought a fake iron cross in a biker accessory store and lost it  . Can't find one here in Portugal, few people are interested in these kind of stuff.

Kind of sad to think, each of those Iron Crosses represents a dead soldier.
Even if they fought for a bad cause, they were still brave men. Respect your enemy.
On a lighter note, that rail-tank thing was REALLY cool.

Here's yours truly not showing a lot of respect. In my defence, I was awestruck by the most awesome collection of historic armour I had ever seen.

Some of the museums on the itinerary for my planned trip to Europe, any suggestions?

Musée de l'Armée
D-Day beaches
Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History
Verzetsmuseum
Nationaal Bevrijdingsmuseum
Airborne Museum 'Hartenstein'
NS-Dokumentationszentrum der Stadt Köln
U-434 Museum
Heiligengeistfeld (flak tower)
U-995 Maritime Museum Laboe
DDR Museum OR Stasi Museum
Deutsch-Russisches Museum
Militärhistorisches Museum
Topography of Terror
Augarten and Arenbergpark Flakturm
Heeresgeschichtliches Museum

Not sure if I'll get around to the museums in Nijmegen and Arnhem as accommodation is a bit more expensive there. I could visit for a day, but it seems like a lot of effort to arrive from Amsterdam, visit one museum, and then train to Cologne.

D-Day beaches are also a bit uncertain just because the tours are really expensive (not really designed for just one person) and renting a car is several hundred euro for the day (can only drive automatic, and I'm <25 years old). Apparently public transport isn't much help for going between the beaches/towns/museums in Normandy either.

Also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortress_of_Mimoyecques

Those would be at the top of my list as an enthusiast of long range Nazi weaponry :)
can only drive automatic
Booooooooo! No wonder you support the feminists :P :D

Have you been there? I assume you can bus from Calais to Audinghen? Looks like a place I want to visit, definitely considering it.

I wonder if it is possible to visit Fortress of Mimoyecques in the same day as the Todt Battery doesn't open until 2pm from what I understand.

You can blame Japanese imports, I think that's why automatics out-number manuals down here. I was actually quite surprised that not only are automatics hard to come by in European rental companies but that you also have to pay so much more for them.

I'll be there early-mid November I think, but only for a couple of days. I would've been interested in meeting up with a few people if I had more time but I'm hopping from city to city every two days or so (sometimes less) in an attempt to cram as much as possible in. A month travelling is definitely not long enough to satisfy my needs so I'll be back to do a proper 3-6 month trip some other time.

Unfortunately I only visited France once and that was a romantic trip to Paris, so it looks like the first K5 I'm going to see is the one at the Aberdeen proving ground :D

They're not common here but genuinely are very popular with women :) do you need to get a different license to drive stick in Kiwiland?
