Damn they are expensive, also I'm not looking for authentic ones either, I'm not good at keep nice things and the Nazi symbol will get me into trouble. Once bought a fake iron cross in a biker accessory store and lost it . Can't find one here in Portugal, few people are interested in these kind of stuff.

Kind of sad to think, each of those Iron Crosses represents a dead soldier.

Not sure if I'll get around to the museums in Nijmegen and Arnhem as accommodation is a bit more expensive there. I could visit for a day, but it seems like a lot of effort to arrive from Amsterdam, visit one museum, and then train to Cologne.

D-Day beaches are also a bit uncertain just because the tours are really expensive (not really designed for just one person) and renting a car is several hundred euro for the day (can only drive automatic, and I'm <25 years old). Apparently public transport isn't much help for going between the beaches/towns/museums in Normandy either.

You can blame Japanese imports, I think that's why automatics out-number manuals down here. I was actually quite surprised that not only are automatics hard to come by in European rental companies but that you also have to pay so much more for them.

I'll be there early-mid November I think, but only for a couple of days. I would've been interested in meeting up with a few people if I had more time but I'm hopping from city to city every two days or so (sometimes less) in an attempt to cram as much as possible in. A month travelling is definitely not long enough to satisfy my needs so I'll be back to do a proper 3-6 month trip some other time.
