Hi, I was wondering, have any of you guys ever heard of limewire or Bearshare?
(Limewire is basically a free version of i-tunes, except it is shared files, videos, and software. Bearshare is just music and music videos.) If so, what do you suggest is the best way to download games on limewire without just downloading viruses?

the best way to not get viruses from limewire is to uninstal it completely, like right now, and never use programs like that. Have you ever heard of torrents? google "torrent" and look into it and download a program called bitcomet to open your torrents. it downloads kind of slow but it's worth it since there's pretty much no virus risk and nothing is mis-named like i've found happens a lot with limewire.

...As for your poll, they are both the same, just different names.

Well, I have stopped completely trying to download games from limewire because they are all viruses it seems. It was very dissappointing. Thanks for the tip about torrent! But, what exactly is torrent?

EDIT: They are definintely NOT the same. They may interect with each-other, but they are different. (I tryed them both.)

i meant the same concept. torrents are basically like a zip file that you download then you have to use a program such as bitcomet to download your free goods from that file. sometimes it's a quick process, and other times its slow, or in between. another nice thing about it is that when you want a whole cd instead of a song or 2, you download the whole cd all into one folder with one download instead of downloading every individual song, and they're all properly named and everything. just a heads up: when i first started using bitcomet i thought it sucked total ass so i gave up and decided to try it later and realized how great it is, so if you think it sucks, just give yourself time to get to know it.

4) Discussion of illegal activities will not be tolerated.
A) Do not request "warez", illegal media (movies, MP3), or any other software that violates or intentionally enables violation of copyright laws.

While it says not to 'request', I think it also would intend not to engage in discussion of programs providing you with illegal software. [Although Ill ask for PC's further refinement]

I dont know why it is said that 'torrents' are safer. Both of them can be accecssed by someone wanting to 'add' a virus. So the claim that it is 'safer' may be a bit far fetched.

Either way, this thread is locked till further revision by PC.
