water rocket

i got to build a water rocket for school by Monday and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas.



(Its got to have a 2-liter for a base)

Use a 2 liter pepsi bottle, poke a little hole in the lid, wala, your done.

but the thing is it has to hit about 400ft away from the launcher

What kind of air pump are you useing? You do know you have to fill it half way with water and then put plenty of air pressure in then cut it loose. Experment with one, do a simulation, see what happens.

400 feet. You're an optimist. The furthest I've ever seen one go is like 150 feet.

the psi is gunna be at 80 and we get to choose everything else so ya, i was just wondering if u had some good mesurements so i wont be left in the dark.

ive seen em go like 300ft.

Just cut out pieces of card board for the fins and use poster board wrapped up like a ice creame cone for the nose cone. Tape some medium sized rocks to the insided of the nose cone for weight and tape every thing on. Mine went way high but i was use 110psi of air.

Have a good and pointed nose cone, and some stablizeing fins, you mite get lucky. Some people build them out of PVC pipe. Go to www.skyhighrockets.com look around in that forum, i think there is a thread there on water rockets.

Even 300 feet is hard to believe. That's a whole football field, it's really easy to miscalculate distance unless you actually measure it.

For a water rocket one of the main factors is drag, so if you make a pretty areodynamic rocket it should do well.
300 feet isn't that high for a water rocket, for a 2 liter pop bottle it is but if you link a few together you can then get some distance.

I can believe you got 300 feet, I just doubted it until you said you measured.
