Ok, I'd love to learn a foreign language. On one stipulation, thats its out the bounds of the languages that Americans 'typically' learn. Those being Spanish, French, and Japanese. I've particularly taken interest in Russian, and German. I leaning towards Russian though because it seems as if German is also becoming a semi-popular language in America. Russian obviously having 'more' foreign characters then that of German, but that may be in the fun of it all.

So how many of you speak foreign languages? Both those who know it as a second language, or if its your first language. I know of several people that are from 'Europe' area that speak foreign languages, although I wont single you out as I don't to leave someone out on the same token.

Essentially what I'm working up to is if someone would be obviously willing, I could first try to learn the language via some online educators, then try conversing with the other via text or verbally. [Verbal is currently out of question as I have dial-up, but I'm *supposed* to get faster net soon.] Maybe introduction to a foreign language based forum I could prowl for a while, then make a few posts slaughtering the language.

So if you know foreign languages to that of English, please reply! [Especially if your Russian.]

Verbal is must ten years later my parents still have problem because they learned from a book and adopted bad pronunciations. I am not try to flame or anything but you must know how to pronounce things right.

FiveseveN, and MrCrowley you got the languages I want! :-p

Romanian, Italian, and German all sound interesting. Possibly telling me if your even interested in helping me would narrow down the choices. For the good of both parties, if your not interested your time could be better spent, and receiving assistance from someone that doesn't take much interest, is going to be a waste of my time. To lighten the load I have found several sites that provide free 'set-ups' exchanges with foreign language speakers. Also many of sites offering instructional assistance on characters, pronunciation, and vocabulary. This also being free of course.

So if you speak any languages listed above, or any other for that matter, please tell me! That would be really nice if there was a few 'spudders' that speak the same language.

Thank you all so far for your input, it is greatly appreciated.

I could scan every page(110) of my level 2 german book...but that may take awhile to upload.....Need any help just hit me up on MSN.

Edit: I like German, I would recomend it as it uses English Characters(apart from the umlaut's, double s character etc.) Its similar to English, Some words from the English language is taken from the German Language....

I speak some Dutch,as my mother is from Dutch decent.I have been to Holland a few times and picked up a fair bit of the language and we use a lot of dutch speaking in my house even though I dont notice it.My Dutch would be a little rusty now but as I havent needed to use it for a year or so and its suprising how quickly you forget it but it does MOSTLY come back.

As to learning a different language go for it,cant do any more harm then good.

I don't know why anybody would want to learn Romanian  . I say learn Latin, Klingon, Vulcan etc. There are only around 26 million Romanian speakers worldwide anyway.
