I am in boyscouts and we do an event every year called the Klondyke Dirby. We Hike three miles in the snow to shaver lake's Camp Chawanakee while pushing old outdated wooden sleds loaded with various items that amout to about 600-800LBS per sled (we usually bring Two or three) Anyways I got tired of pushing every yar, so I built a gas powered all steel sled. It has a Kawazaki 200 streetbike engine that I got for 100 bucks, all it needed to run was a spark coil and it started right up. This thing has six gears and the way I have it geared it tops out at about 15 MPH in sixth gear. I built and designed and tested this at my house. It took about 120-130 hours to get to where it is now. Im going to paint it soon.

Simple machines vs. manual labor. I love it. Looks vet nice and effective, though would your scoutmaster allow you to bring it? If they don't like you bringing ipods to camp, then I don't think they would like a motorized sled. BTW, what rank are you?

My scoutmaster loved the idea of it and so does everyone else at the camp ( other than the usual one or two guys that think that tradition is more important. I just say screw you, your just jealous because you could never build anything like it 8) )
Oh to_live, to answer your question, i just push the handlebars one way or the other. That motor assembly is attached to the sled via a trailer hitch
Oh, also, im fifteen and im still first class, because im so damn lazy, or busy building things like this

im in scouts too, lol at klondike, where we go, is a large bowl and we just ride our sleds down the hill meanwhile piling our whole patrol on it. Then, at the bottom we have a large guy in our patrol named Derrick, who for your information is always unobjecting, pushes it uphill again.
