Actually, it will have a pretty big difference in stopping time. I still own the car, and when loaded with people, you can feel the difference in braking. Also, my trunk was full of stuff.

PS: YOUR car. I am not a car, and 'you're car' means 'you are car', which doesn't make any sense.
Also, had the two bumpers been at the same height, your car would have been damaged. You stated earlier that trucks have less crumple zones than do cars, and a trucks bumper is made from steel. Yours isn't, it's full of crumple zones. Therefore it would have been damaged, if not more than when you were at a lower level. I should know, It's happened to me.
No, actually it wouldn't have. I hit him at an EXTREMELY low speed, and for a long, long time cars have come with 5mph impact bumpers. This means in the result of a crash at 5mph or less, there will not be any major damage. If anything it would have scuffed the paint. Instead, I had to replace my hood, my headlights, and straighten the tip of my fender, all because his bumper was too high to even touch mine.
P.S. You shouldn't start a sentence with "and" and capitalizing words at the beginning usually help.
When was I not capitalizing the first letter of the first word of a sentence? And, starting a sentence with 'and' or 'but' is perfectly acceptable.

Why doesnt everyone just go out and buy a crappy asian car, cause they have good crash ratings? Or better yer, just drive safely and none of that would matter!

I'm glad we can all solve a debate in today's forum by attacking minute grammatical errors. :x An argument about trucks and cars and their respective safety has degenerated into an argument over who is more intelligent, based on tiny little spelling and grammar errors.

Ignore the grammar and spelling and focus on the point. The way I see it, attacking grammar in somebody's post who was trying to get a point across to you is simply a way to get out of having to respond.

Yep, they sure are crappy. That's why Toyota, Honda, and Subaru have the highest resale values around. That's why Toyota is now the world's largest automaker, not GM.

Here's my Honda with 252,000 miles:

Image

Still gets over 32mpg, original engine, original transmission, doesn't burn oil, the interior doesn't rattle, drives great. What a 'crappy' car.

I was doing so, then SpudBlaster15 started calling me all sorts of names, saying that I'm too dumb to understand his point (which was quite simple and clear: Braking abilities and handling don't matter at all and do not contribute to the higher deathrate, so it's all the driver's faults). When someone calls ME dumb, and makes stupid grammatical errors that I was taught in 3rd grade, I feel compelled to point out that I'm not the one making stupid 3rd grade mistakes.

Yep. Definite crap. My subie gets 25-27mpg, can go over 150, stops great, and handles insane.... full leather and suede interior, incredible stereo. What a POS.

I'm pretty sure if you compared the build quality/problems of most domestics with most imports, you'd see a definite trend, and ultimately the REASON that resale value on a chevy, dodge, or ford sucks so badly. I used to be a huge dodge fan too. Shame.

ok lemme start by saying i drive a 1986 gmc jimmy s15 4x4. although i want to get rid of it to get a newer chevy silverado, it gets the job done and then some. being an suv it has the best of both worlds, i can bring friends with me, and i can haul stuff when needed. and btw you gan go many many more places in a truck than you can in a car, unless you get a subaru. on the point of braking abilites thats horse shit if you can feel your brakes getting worse you have overloaded your car. look on the center door post for the maximum laod capabilites. on a seperate note, dodge blows, but chevy and fords tend to last for a long time, how many 30-40 year old asian cars have you seen on the road? on import cars they make everything out of aluminum or plastic and it breaks a helluva lot easier. once your chinese car gets over 20 years old, if it hasnt already, ittl crap out soon.

Actually no, you can't "feel" your car's braking improve due to less people in it. Unless of course the people in your car were 500 pounds+ each. (including yourself) If that is the case, then you probably overloaded your brakes since you can feel the difference since now it's just you. Maybe if you had a truck you could have towed all them.

Oh, and are you not smart enough to think of anything intelligent to say to me, other than the fact that I used the wrong form of 'your'? It's called human error, I know the difference between your and you're.

rednecktatertosser wrote: on the point of braking abilites thats horse crap if you can feel your brakes getting worse you have overloaded your car.
No, it wasn't overloaded, it was just loaded. Hell, I can feel the difference in acceleration between a full tank of gas and a near empty tank of gas. I can feel the difference in the engine after an oil change. Maybe I'm just more observant than you, but 5 people at 150lbs each= 750lbs, plus some stuff in the trunk. Considering the car weighs only 2600lbs, the 'cargo' was easily about 30% more mass than driving alone, so of COURSE I can feel the diffference.
on a seperate note, dodge blows
Disagree. They made the Hemi, which was the best V8 of all time, and it's many incarnations are STILL used in some of the fastest dragsters on the planet today. They also tended to overbuild their suspensions, which was dramatacized in the show, "the dukes of hazzard". If you ever read the article about the filiming of the legendary movie, "Bullit", you'll read that the mustang was hopped up, and the suspension was redone and shot peened and all this stuff to make it stronger, and the charger was stock. Still, the ford was falling apart during the filming, wheras the charger was not.
how many 30-40 year old asian cars have you seen on the road?
That's a really stupid example, considering that asian cars were barely imported back then. Here's a better one: how many 1980s cars do you still see on the road? Most are japanese. Coincidence? Beats me.
on import cars they make everything out of aluminum or plastic and it breaks a helluva lot easier.
You are talking out of your ass. The only all aluminum japanese car I know of is the Acura NSX. I would LOVE to have an all aluminum car, it would haul major ass. In the really real world, Japanese cars are made of steel, just like most cars on the road. My SVX is steel. Both my hondas are steel. My old dodge was steel. My old ford was steel. You are really talking out of your ass, and basically proving to everybody who knows anything about cars that you really don't know what the hell you are talking about.
once your chinese car gets over 20 years old, if it hasnt already, ittl crap out soon.
China hasn't started selling cars in the USA yet. And sorry, my 17 yr old honda runs fine, even with over 250,000 miles. I'd like to see you find a better running 1989 domestic model, with that many miles, or more.

Actually, yes, I can. The accord weighs 2600lbs. Throw in 5 people, at around 150lbs each, and you have an additional 750lbs. Throw in a trunk load of stuff, and there's another 50lbs. So I had 800lbs of cargo in a 2600lb vehicle. You can DEFINITELY feel a difference in braking, handling, and acceleration. To say otherwise is just ridiculous. If you'd like to honestly settle the matter, please come visit milwaukee. After receiving a deposit of $3500 for my vehicle, you may test drive it with and without 5 people in it, and come to your own conclusions.

I said a few other things, which you completely ignored. I'll copy and paste them for you:

Ok for the record what I said about foreign cars was in a sarcastic tone, I am a fan of Europeon cars however I do not like Asian cars for the simple reason that they are killing the American car market. For that I do not like them, but I admit that they are well made and last a long time. Nevertheless, I drive a good ole American made Chevy Camaro, made in 1995 and has roughly 60 grand miles on it. It runs amazing and can most likely beat any import car stock. So theres my two cents on the argument. Personally I think that the driver makes the car and if the driver sucks well then the car really cant help. No matter what your driving and you nail a telephone pole going 50 mph your gonna be in a world of shit.

I like European cars also, but ah! Thats it. Import cars, in general, are BORING. Like, in appearance and speed. You have only given an example of a car with considerable speed. The toyata corrolla for example, very slow and ugly and boring. The prius, same. Accord, boring appearance. Generally, I think that more japanese cars are on the road than 80's american cars is because of the tuner mentality. Suddenly, japanese cars have become very cool because that is the car that you tune and trick out. If that happened to 80's american cars, then that is what would still be there. But it didn't. It didn't because they were super ugly "econoboxes", and they were well named. Now, imports, they are just ugly, not super ugly then, and their sudden popularity and the low cost of an 80's or 90's honda or whatever is what has driven them to get them because they are "cool". Personally, I don't think they are cool unless they have gotten a body kit, and look totally awesome. And, that they aren't a ricer.

EDIT: Oops, that was a little oddly worded. A clearer version. An older honda was more affordable, to they grabbed that instead of a new one, and grabbed it because it was cooler than an 80's american econobox.

God... sarcasm again.
Haven't you learned that it doesn't work very well online? It's not funny, and it probably leads to billions of dollars of wasted productivity per year.

That said, let's keep our discourse civil; I received a complaint about your heated grammar discussions.

And while I'm here, let's note that sometimes hard braking or tight turns are required to avoid a collision - and, regardless of the driver, some vehicles can do these tasks better than others.
