I just saw the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis from T-30:00 to T+18. Inspirational stuff, really.

jrrdw: thanks, I've been looking for that link forever.
I saw the launch on NASA TV, made me want to be along for the ride.
A space rocket launch (shuttle or otherwise) is one of the things I want to witness in real life before I die (the others are a total solar eclipse, a volcano eruption and (if it wasn't for the fallout and other damage that goes with it, as well as the prospects for it being next to nil) an atmospheric nuclear bomb test).

Just make sure that one is last on your list and take out the word "test" and you might have a shot

A real rocket launch is something I've always wanted to see in real life too.
