Hello All,

It has been a while since I have posted a cannon but I had the parts and an idea.

It works fairly well but there is always room for improvement. :D

How does it work? Is there a piston behind the water so it all comes out semi-coherent, or is it just a gun with water in the front?
Completed projects:
CA1 SMSS Basic Inline
CA3 PDAB Airburst Cannon

Current Project: Bolt action rifle (25x140mm + 1in shot)

Yes sorry I didnt explain better.

There is a 2 inch rubber piston that is shot forward, much like a captive bolt, and the water is in front of it.

Damn video wont upload to photobucket, any suggestions?

The gun looks good. So there is a piston and a sprinkler valve? You could always upload the video to youtube.

So if I understand this right the sprinkler is the main valve and then there is a piston in the larger steel pipe that pushes the water forward?

I see your cannon and all I can think is 'hybrid' :P

Nice cannon anyway, good that you are trying new things and it seems to work fairly well.

Actually yes, there is a 2" rubber piston in the steel pipe, all lubed up :D

And yes MrCrowley these are leftover peices from an old hybrid.

Here is the video, my mother was quite intrigued! And yes that is my sister who is younger than me....

You tore up a hybrid to make a water gun? Shouldn't it be the other way around. Well it looks good anyways, and I can't wait to see the video.

Sorry, I meant that the hybrid had already been disassembled. Due to some fuel problems and i didn't want to fix it.

rna

Possibly could you elaborate on this? It might be the solution I need. Seeing that the youtube video still isn't processed

Nice. Though the piston is not needed when the chamber is above the barrel (and the gun is held horizontally).
Any pic of the piston?

I heard that soap will make bottle rockets more powerful. Could imagine the same for water guns.

If you fill a water rocket with both water and soap, it wont make the rocket more powerfull. This is because of the expanding foam inside the rocket; your volume of 'propellent' would increase, but the density will be lower than the density of water. So what you'll get is a rocket that has a longer 'thrust phase' but less force to propel the rocket upwards. So it will not accelerate as fast as a normal water rocket, but will accelerate longer (and leave a nice trail in the sky).

I hope you get the picture..

and my spellcheck is somehow stuck to dutch, so im sorry for any odd english you might have read.
