Hey guys, As you know I have been working on a launcher that involves a safe mode, a battery charging mode, electronic firing button, and a modular port that allows me to hook up all sorts of gadgets like my remote firing trigger, PIR Sensor, etc...

Well here is a sneak peak of what I have done so far...

yes its a LAW as stated in the description.

I am going to give it a darker OD green than the current light OD green. but I still have to do some body work to fit the sprinkler valve inside and to fit the firing button and selection switch, and the modular accessory ports.

The cannon will be an electrically actuated sprinkler valve, 2 inch bore and chamber. It is going to be used in airsoft events and will fire a modular projectile load. What this means is that I will have different "rounds". A nerf vortex football round for anti tank/vehicle, a nerf ballistic round as a general grenade round, and a BB shower round for up close and personal. The air chamber on the cannon will be at different pressures for these rounds, which can be easily manipulated by an adjustable popoff valve. I will simply fill until it "pops" and then after it equalizes, I will fire.

The main goals of this project are the following:
  • * Realistic looking launcher for Airsoft
    * modular firing capabilities
    * modular charging capabilities
    * modular remote firing capabilities
    * "I.E.D Mode - turn device into an I.E.D (for airsoft)"
Now performance demands are not super high for the projectiles used, so that Is why I am going with a sprinkler valve. Sprinkler valves are cheap and I already had one.

I eventually will make two similar launchers, but I am only working on one at a time.

Well the body is going to be made of multiple parts, so yeah...

toys, some pvc, and I might need to do more body work where the sprinkler valve is yet... I also plan on putting a picatinny rail on the launcher as well.. the body is nowhere near finished, but yeah...

That's really clean looking. Can't wait to see what it can do. Great work.

Thanks, I fitted the sprinkler valve in there, I did an okay job, kinda over cut a little bit, but trying to fit something like this so its perfectly centered in the tube, in just the right spot so that the air tank can thread on, while the coupling for the air tank to reduce down to 3/4" has to meet up perfectly with the body of the launcher. So this means it had to be positioned within an 1/8 inch in 3 different axis, 4 if you count the fact that the sprinkler valve needs to be angled straight as well and not rotated because the solenoid pops out of the top of the body and needs to be straight as well.. so a lot of chance for a mistake but I some how managed to pull it off. (I have no precision equipment at all :) )

So the sprinkler valve sits in straight, the air chamber threads on, and so does the barrel, now I just need to cut down my barrel to the right length, and same with the air tank. I still need my relief valve and box on the back of the launcher, and I need to fit the "cocking bar" even though it doesnt "cock". I also still have to hook up all the electronics.

David, where do you plan on using this? What field will allow it? I can understand back yard airsoft skirmishes.

Yeah thats true. But once they see he has to charge an actual air tank, and it launches a projectile, then they will figure out its home made. Plus I don't think there is any type of airsoft launcher that has an "IED" mode.
