Well you could buy mine, lol but on a more serious note how are you machining/creative skills? If your good you could make a piston cannon and that would most likely satisfy your desire for a large cannon. However I must warn you that unless you have a big compressor, a large cannon can turn into a pain in the ass. My two cents

cool thanks  :!:
am going to make piston using a 3in coupler inside 4in tubing, and yes it will be all pressure rated :!:

Well our NZ PVC prices are gonna kick you in the rear, especially for big cannons, from plumbing merchants(practically the only places in NZ that sell large diameter pressure rated pipe) you have to buy in 6m lengths most of the time, which cost hundreds of dollars.

Oh yeah, just a warning we don't allow double posting here at spudfiles, edit your posts instead.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :?: :?:

well Ill see if my dad has any lying around at his workplace.
If not ill probably make something a bit more portable due to the massive coss of pvc here in NZ

Did anyone figure out if it was legal to send pvc by airfreight or whatnot?

I was just wondering. I know that companies don't do it, but could I buy a chunk of pvc and mail to Crowley?

I am guessing it wouldn't fly in 6 meter or 20 foot sections that I get here, but say in 6 foot sections, I can't see any reason why not. Galvanized or metal pipe I can see why not, but x-rays should go right through pvc shouldn't they?

yeh because apartently if your cannon expodes they cant find the pvc shards in u with the Xray

I'd be surprised if you couldn't send it.....Even if X-rays can't penetrate it (I think they'll show up on an X-ray since they're a different density to the body though) then they'll just open it up if they're that suspicious. I believe they get dogs to sniff them out first and then X-ray them if the dogs react. Either way I'd have thought the postage would likely kill any potential saving you could make.

Oh yeah on this subject I need a valid excuse for a teen ager bringing into NZ over $300 worth of irrigation supplies.

So far i've come up with

1) Science project

2) i'm taking the solenoids of the valves to make a door lock, or an alarm system and i'm using the galvanized pipes to replicate a cars breaking system to demonstrate how most liquids can't be compressed and the pressure is the same on all sides(of the pistons in the brake)

@Crowley

I'd go for the "I'm planning on using these parts to make makeshift weapons to give to the Roos on the other Island down there so they can take back their natural habitat."

See what happens....

I would just tell them the truth, meaning, that plumbing parts were cheap and you needed some.

As for freighting, I'll just ask at the post office one of these days to see how much that would cost. I wouldn't think it would be that much if you didn't put a rush on it.

Shipping is a bitch, trust me it's not worth the hassle, if I really need some pipe i'll buy some offcuts from a plumbing merchant I know.

Haha yeah, only thing is we don't have roo's in NZ :P
