If you do make an expansion tank, I would make it out of steel pipe, since temperature affects the pressure, you don't have very much control of it (unless you have a regulator).

That's actually a good idea, but it may be cheaper to go with a 160psi pop-off valve and a ball valve to shut off the flow to the buffer.
I don't think a short section of hose will do much good, btw.
And what is the meaning of life? (Other than building homemade weapons to protect us from the invading Barbarian hordes.)
If you're refering to the ultimate answer, it's 42. Or, alternatively, 54 if you've ever watched the tv series.
