Howdy spudders.

I wanna make a new piston for my bb gun. The hot glue is giving me the shites, I'm constantly having to lube it up otherwise it doesn't slide n locks up.

I had to idea of making a piston out of Sicaflex. I know that it dries pretty smooth and pretty firm but would it it be good enough to seal against the barrel without using a sealing face made out rubber?

Dont know, but why wont you just make a sealing face?

I dont know how expensive that stuff is but... just try it

And if it doesnt seal, make a sealing face on it.

I tried this the other week mate, turned out shit mostly but if ya did it right it would be ace. it turned out crap for me cauz i forgot to lube the mold for it.

what also will play a part is what type of sikaflex ya use because they have a lot of different types, but yer ur smart enough to get one that will suit.

Define -- Sicaflex. Does it set up hard, rubbery? I've probly seen this stuff but in different form/name, it just doesn't come to mind. Do you have your gun posted?

About as efficient as the co-efficient of friction intends it to be smart arse

Well, considering sikaflex is a caulking I doubt it will be as good a piston as an epoxy one.The only advantage I could see is that you would already have a built in sealing face.But it still wouldn't be as sturdy as your hot glue piston if anything it might seperate were you layered the caulking.Sikaflex is some weird stuff.I don't know if you have it but I would try 3M 5200.That stuff cures a little harder than sikaflex and may be more suitable for a piston.

But seriously, in this case epoxy probably offers a lighter, lower friction solution than sicaflex.
