extreme pressure sources

I'm making this topic to discuss extreme pressure sources and alternitives to $2000+ pumps, this is an extension of my other thread only now it's not about hydraulic pumps
I'm defining extreme pressures as about 2500psi and up
I researched and found that many high pressure hydraulic stuff mention used centrifugal pumps that cant be adapted for air because of their chemical properties so help me brainstorm and evaluate ideas that can be reapplied to create extreme presures

some things I thought of are:
home made air booster, sadly the higher pressure cylinder must be homemade while the lower pressure one is bought  that and the fact that it will require a diffrent return stroke force since the input wont be high pressure O2
another variation could be a high pressure hydrolic source (possibly used pressure washer to be cheap) converted into air pressure

theres also the idea JSR suggested in mechanizing an existing pump like a http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/accessory.pl?accessory_id=81 [/url]
but I wonder if this idea or any others may require special cooling like the pumps I have seen

There are high pressure compressed gas cylinders made by HP+ and other companies that run at up to 6000 psi. I'm getting the idea that you wanted to get the high pressure yourself though.

In this case, you could make a small bore, medium stroke length pump from steel hydraulic tubing, attach it to a high power, geared down electric motor, and then feed low pressure helium into the input. With a bit of work, you could make a cycling gas ram with a compressed air source powering it, but it would require a very ingenious valve system.

hmm can you give me anything to narrow my search more I keep getting other stuff like Hewlett Packard office supplies, and gas chromatographs, but not what I'm looking for,

gearing down the motor will be a pain, if its too fast it might need cooling and tiny cylinders,
for a cycling gas ram well 2 high pressure check valves and a miniature control valve, hooked up to my air compressor, I could easily think of something for the reseting,

my dad thought of something, use a pressure washer as a reverse watergun (instead of air pressure in a tank to create water presure) spray water in with an output on top, no cylinders nessecary,
if you ever used a pressure washer its might get a little misty though

any help expanding on this? any other ideas? please[/i]

Why not just use a PCP Air Rifle Pump, capable of 250 bar (3625 psi), I use one to pump up my PCP Air Rifle, works great, Unless of course you are intending on filling a large chamber, then it would take forever, but then again, theres no need to go with a vast chamber if youre going up to insane pressures.
And will probably only cost somewhere in the region of $200.

Go on the Air Liquide webpage, and then go to the catalogue, and then "gas products". There will be a list of gases. Click the one you want, probably helium or hydrogen, then a list will come up (balloon, industrial, Alphagaz1, etc.). Click the HP plus, and a list will come up. One of the cylinders on the list (the size "44HH") is stored at 6kpsi.

Ratermann manufacturing sells all of the CGA to NPT adapters, even the oddball ones, without having to buy a regulator.

I think I am considering big

@DYI: are you talking about this downloadable catalog
http://www.us.airliquide.com/en/medias/ ... atalog.pdf
note: by clicking the link you download the 204page catalog
if not could you please give me a link air liquid is too big and has multiple sites for countries, and I don't see a catalog link with those options

you could motorize the pump, JSR recommended it somewhere, it would allow you to pump higher volumes without getting tired :happy8:

Out of interest, what rifle is it, and legal limit or FAC?

he has an air arms s410 (i think)

also i don't really get the point of an air rifle over the legal limit because you need a firearms liscence so you could just go buy a .22 rifle or something which doesn't involve pumping!

Ah, I had one of those, nice bit of kit though the mag is a little iffy as it's not sprung. I see your point about needing a FAC in the UK, personally I needed a license anyway so I thought might as well go high power. I could but a 0.22, 0.223 or even 0.308 if I wanted to, for cheaper prices than a good air rifles, but so far I've stuck with air, much less expensive to shoot and you can do it pretty much anywhere because it's quiet and you can turn the power down if necessary.

hmm i suppose but then i would just get a 12ft/lbs air rifle and a nice .22 or .223 rifle :D

If I had the land, definitely, but to have a centrefire target rifle I could only look at, bar a few days per month at the range, it's not worth it.

yeah i suppose, i presume you have the land for an air rifle so you can shoot them more frequently? (i'm jealous if you do :( )

hehe I'm probaly one of the luckiest ballistic enthusiast locally, for the most part It's dense suburbs around here but I live in a house with 1acre of land only one neighbor that can see my backyard, and the rest is state park forest, right in the middle of suburbia

back to subject anyone got some Ideas to expand on the pressure washer filling a chamber, I still need a chamber and hopefully a input on the bottom of it for water to make things a lot faster
