yes you can make anywhere from 4 to 6 holes in the top that will spray the paint out.

so this is for airsoft then? the only ones i have seen for airsoft used a plastic type shell that was filled with bb's and citric acid , it had a pull pin that when pulled it released baking soda into the citric acid, combining the two causes pressure to build up in the shell, causing it to rupture with enough force to send out the bb's like shrapnel. there is also one that uses a blank 22cal. shell to do the same thing. personaly i do not know how effective either is. and neither one would be allowed on a paintball field.

Instead of using a gate valve, you should replace it with a ball valve, then have the pin hole design incorporated. This will make it consistent, as trying to predict a gate valve may prove difficult.

As far as it spraying airsoft pellets, I've only worked with paintball but, treating the pellets as a fluid, I don't see why it won't work. Place a piece of tubing over the burst dist (to act as a barrel) and fill the tubing up with bbs. This will cause the air to push the bbs out when detonated and, because of the flexibility of the tubing, it will spray them in all directions.

There are two concerns I see:

1) The valve may be triggered while it is being carried (which would be bad). You may want to add some type of safety devise to it.
2) It is going to be pretty large. See if you can't try to make it as small as possible without sacrificing performance.

Paintball is illegal in Australia(depends were you live),unless you want to play at a club. You are not allowed to own your own markers, paintballs, hopers unless you have the required licences, and then they are only allowed to be used on certian fields and not used on private property etc.Thats what I class as illegal,me not being allowed to own a marker or paintballs and use them at my house.

Can you guys (Aussies) have your laws changed to permit paintball guns? or is it just out of the question ridiculous? I live in California (Los Angeles) and our state is infamous for being extra tight on gun laws/bb guns/paintball, but we are allowed to own bb/airsoft/paintball guns with out licences. Is it illegal if you make ur own?

Yes it's illegal to make your own,a jail time could also be dealt out if it was severe enough.

To own a any type of firearm in australia you need a fire arms licence. And paintball markers,bb guns and airsoft all come in under the same category, although I do belive laws in some states have been changed to allow for special paintball marker licences and airsoft licences, but they are still only to be used on registered playing fields.

This place is overly tight on gun laws, did you know that a combustion spudgun is in the same category as a rocket launcher if you were to get the licence for it.And wiht that licence you are allowed to onw the device but never allowed to discharge it.

And the laws don't like they will be changing anytime soon,if anything they are getting tighter.

Fireworks are illegal aswell, the only thing we are allowed ot have is sparklers..Yay!Sparklers....

I know, plus security here is outragous! This is the most unamerican state! There isnt a public place without a metal detector or armed security over here.
