ok, i was thinking about real bullets and trying to figure out a way to contain the energy needed for each shot in the round (like a real bullet w/gunpowder) then i thought of a 12 gram CO2 cartridge, then thought too much for one shot, so i came up with this:

Image

it's partially based on someones pen gun (can't remember who, i think it was JSR) the schreader is the fill and exhaust, and the projectile goes in the shell, when it's in the gun (that hasn't been made yet), pin on gun opens schreader-> projectile moves not as far as expected. yeah, it's low volume, but high pressure, and i can shoot anything that isn't toooo heavy, like a bb or something
then i can base a gun around the shell and all it has to do is open the valve

that sound like it might work although not a very big range, and how many cartriges would you have?

I think it would work, but the range would be better if you had a pipe the same diameter as the barrell stationary on the actual gun (firing Thingy) and then had the cartridges revolving (Like the Eclispe By Solar).

for reasons which I have yet to fathom, this idea sounds vaguely familiar ;)

@JSR: Really? You shock me.
Well, as we've got JSR around, there is clearly no chance of original ideas any more.

Na, I'm hardly surprised anyone has made plans for such a thing. Just as long as you don't find out my plans for the combustion BB minigun...

@Nova: It's your computer.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Well, yeah, I know it's old hat in the airgun world, but has anyone actually succeeded in making a spudgun that uses a cartridge yet?
