A sprinkler valve moves much more air than a blow gun can... A blowgun vents about 10 cubic feet of air per minute (CFM or SCFM) on average... The better ones (high pressure\flow) venting about 32 SCFM at 100 psi... Whereas a 3/4" QEV (similar to a 1" sprinkler valve in flow) vents around 480 SCFM at 100 psi...

That means about 48 times move flow from a 1" sprinkler valve \ 3/4" QEV than a blowgun.

A homemade piston valve can normally vent much more air than a sprinkler valve...

Even a ball valve is a much better choice than a blowgun... A 1/8" ball valve probably vents more than a standard hardware store blowgun (normally about 10 SCFM@100psi)... A 1/4" ball valve vents much more than a hardware store blowgun.

No problemmmm...

Search works pretty well...
Or go to the how to section.

Modified Blowguns are quite nice if you're looking for a semi auto.

Sprinkler Valves can also go semi auto, but you need time for it to reach equilibrium.

And yes stock valves work but the cannon I made had a stock valve .. the g-ball only went 50-75 ft.......I modded the valve with a modded blowgun and now it goes 300-400 yds.

Ya so I guess that the modded sprink is 10x more than the stock.....

And we ALL were new once!!! :)

I don't think that's possible, for a 1" modded sprinkler valve, using pressures under 140psi to shoot a golfball that far. Well not practical anyway and in my experience you would've only shot about 220yards max.

Try using google earth and landmarks to find the distance using the 'ruler' tool.

picking one fur tree from another is like trying to find the fish you just put back in the lake. LOL Once it goes over the first row you cant see it any more...

when i get my scuba reg. fixed i am going to talk with the driving range and see if they will let me shoot there...

@carlman LEDs also work well for this purpose but i am just curious how is it possible that people can verify their shots, for example above 500 m, if I have problems with verifying shots above 150m ?

for my distance shots i have a property which is 600m on its longest side with a 10m wide fire break. my fence posts are 2 m apart so it it made for measuring distance :D

just shoot down it and go find that glowing spud whilst counting the posts as you go :D

I have a golfcourse as my back yard really, I fire off a couple of shots, walk down and spend 20minutes finding my marked golfball.

I then refer to an ugly looking tree or a huge one, or maybe a sand bunker, and go on google earth and use the ruler.
