find this lever which I can't see on any valves on this site. If you can see a photo, the lever in the vertical position is "Open". Rotated clockwise to the 90* position is "Closed."

In what position should I "weld" it to correctly mod the valve?

Piccy would be nice! You are not planning on welding a valve shut are you, that would be silly :)

It might be the bleed "valve" (dont know the right word)

Now most likely this is not the valve your using, however are talking about the component I have "boxed" in?

To tell you the truth I am unsure as to its purpose, so I couldn't tell you. I'll Google around and try to figure out its purpose.

Resourcing off of another forum I find that it is bleed valve, just a variant from the screw in kind. Now as to what position to have it, haven't the foggiest.

If it's the bleed valve I say "closed" most valves have screws. But you shouldn't need to glue it, just leave it shut.

It is simply a mechanical switch that can push up the solenoid and trigger the valve. If you are modding the valve and leaving the solenoid in place then it should be in the closed position. If you are removing the solenoid then it doesn't matter at all because you will most likely be filling that hole with epoxy.

Thanks for all the advice, This forum has a broad knowledge base
I've filled the hole with epoxy and now the matter, like the valve, is closed

Thanks again
