I recently bought my first sprinkler valve for modification. After following all the instructions in the BC Pneumatics Video, my valve continues to let all the air out through the barrel when being charged. I realize there is a post for these problems already, but when I went through the process of cleaning the diaphragm and greasing it, it didn't help. I also removed that little white piece stuck in the diaphragm so that the airflow was not constricted. That didn't help at all, except for this: When I put my hand over the barrel end to seal the air off, and i squeeze the blowgun trigger, it releases the pressure through the blowgun, whereas when the white piece was still there it did not.

If anyone can help me with this, that would be awesome. Also, if there is another post that explains this to me, or if I am posting in the wrong place, kindly let me know.

I've had that problem a lot with sprinkler's, I ordered a modded one, it was leaking through the barrel, ordered another modded one, and it leaked through the barrel also. don't know if the pressure wasn't high enough, but once i took it to 100 psi or so it seemed to stop. I dunno, I haven't been doing much testing. I've decided not to use them again.

Jrrdw- I know, it's just that since it has been modded it doesn't seal.

Maniac- Unfortunately my camera isn't working at the moment, but it essentially looks just like every other modded sprinkler. It is an Orbit Watermaster 3/4", with threaded female ends.

Ilovetoblowthingsup- *Sigh* That is not what I wanted to hear. I was sort of wishing someone would pat me on the back and everything would be o.k. again. >.< Also, I wanted to say that my valve isn't just leaking, it's spewing air out the barrel. Absolutely none of it is caught by the valve, and it accumulates 0 P.s.i.

I was having the same problem. I took out my blowgun, cleaned it greased it, and then epoxyed the damn thing in Epoxy+leak= no leak

is your noid bleed switch off?

try this...

Remove the little black piece on the diaphram, if that doesn't work then try drilling where the whole is when you remove that little black piece.

Maybe the sprinkler is just defective

Davidvaini- Did that already, the little piece that moderates airflow into the area above the diaphragm, right?

Bigbob12345- I'm thinking that may be the case, that the diaphragm must just be defective because I've taken just about every measure to fix it.

In the outlet(barrel) there might be a small tube protruding out. Seal that tube with epoxy because it releases bleed air from the solenoid or something, but since there is no solenoid it doesnt work and air leaks out.
So seal that little tube in the outlet.

I also had a few challenges with my first sprinkler.

I'd say:

- Don't listen too much to those ideas about drilling a larger hole in the diaphragm. It will only make the valve harder to trigger and less efficient when you get it to seal.

- Since you removed the little plastic plug in the diphragm hole anyway, try to fill it from the pilot side. That will give the diaphragm a little push in the sealing direction when filling, just what you want.

- If you removed a spring (for the same "push"), put it back in.
