Does anybody still use any of the older versions of GGDT?
I'm talking anything pre-4.4.
If so, what version are you using?
And if you ARE using it, do you go back and forth between the old and the current?
The real question: I'm contemplating ripping the ability to import old data files into GGDT. It'd clean up some code a bit... blah blah blah.

Nope, 4.4 was what I used up till the release of 4.5.
Might I make a suggestion?
In the “valve type” drop down menu, would it be possible to have “generic sprinkler valve” as on option with the average data of a sprinkler valve plugged in and all the user has to enter is whether it’s electrically or pneumatically triggered, how big the pilot volume is if it’s pneumatically triggered, and what size valve it is?
Anyways, thanks for making the GGDT, it’s bean a huge help.

also, D_hall, i know alot of us have kinda wanted a program that runs on a TI83 calculator.........
even just a simple Hybrid Mix Calculator like you have in HGDT or a calculator form of the External Balistics Calculator would be nice......
Would you mind if I put a suggestion for HGDT in here????
well here it goes anyway: For the Hybrid Mix Calcualtor, Having an Option for multiple "shots" of fuel would be VERY nice. i could just divide the output by the number of shots but.... it would be nice.
that and mabey some way to do Pure OXY/Fuel loads......

VH_man, regarding the hybrid mix calculator.
In what sense do you mean this? Enter mix and it outputs fuel and air pressure? If so, I already wrote that program on my calculator, and I could post it if you would like.

Just to be clear....
I do GGDT/HGDT to support my own hobby/profession. If my work happens to support others, great! I'll tweak features and such to accomodate the needs of others but I won't embark on major endeavors that I'll not benefit from.
My point in the above?
I'll not be writing any apps for TI calculators. I use my calculator for simple calculations, nothing more. If I want to do "real" work in the field, I take my laptop.
Consider it a corollary to the reasons I won't write a Mac-compatible version.
Note: I do NOT post the above to insult anybody. I just don't want there to be any illusions about the likelihood that I will be authoring any TI tools. I won't be. I do, however, highly encourage others to do it.

Nope, I don't use old versions.
Although I think the ability to import old files is useful. If somebody maybe wants to reexamine an old design that they haven't dealt with in a long time they might still have an old GGDT file for it. Or if somebody gets back into spudding after a long time they might have old GGDT files. However both cases would presumably still have an old GGDT executable (and I believe you have some old versions available on your website) so it wouldn't be a huge problem to manually import it.

The TI-86 runs a z-80 processor overclocked to 6megahertz.
I run a Inspiron 1150... which has a Celeron at 2,600 MegaHertz
So the clockspeed is 430 times faster.
Further, I believe the celeron has pipelining, whereas the Z80 doesn't (another factor of two in speed there)
Oh, and I expect that the celeron has multiplication/division/maybe square root circuits, whereas the Z80 processor can only add and subtract.
And I'm not certain the Z80 has hardware support for floating-point operations.
...So the celeron is probably >20,000 times faster than the Z80.
And a reasonable GGDT simulation takes my computer nearly a second.
You don't want to wait around for about 6 hours for your GGDT simulation to run on your TI-86.
***************************
But, eh, no, I don't use old GGDT versions.
If you could configure the GGDT files so that they where human readable (comment blocks), that would be nice - sometimes the files go corrupt, and I'd like the ability to pull my measurements from the file instead of grabbing my rule&beaker.

I have no way of uploading the program to my computer, but I can post the lines so that they can be entered into the calculator.
V is volume of chamber

: P/.61->W
:W*14.695->X
:Disp "FUEL PSI", X
:M*14.695->S
:Disp "AIR PSI", S
A few notes:
.61 is the meter volume, so you will need to change this accordingly.
Also, this was written using SB15's math here

You are more than welcome to contact me regarding translation if you want Danish added, i would be more than happy to help out. Even thou i dont understand why you would want multi-language support when you say you only make this program for your own sake?D_Hall wrote:Suggestions are always welcome. I'll have to think about whether or not I'll go with that one.
Right now the mods I've got in mind are improved high velocity accuracy (if I can get some good data to study) and multi-language support.
Edit: oh, and no, i dont use older than 4.4.

I don't think that anyone use older versions... and I don't think that multilanguage support is needed. it would be better if you add more functions or make it more stable

The multi-language support doesn't do anything for me directly. True enough. But there are some things I've been thinking about and adding a very crude multi-language capability allows me to do some other things I've just bee too damned lazy to do otherwise.hyldgaard wrote:You are more than welcome to contact me regarding translation if you want Danish added, i would be more than happy to help out. Those are nebulous comments.POLAND_SPUD wrote:it would be better if you add more functions or make it more stable
Precisely what function would you like added?
Precisely what instabilities are you experiencing? It doesn't do me any good for you to say "It crashes sometimes." What I need is "It crashes when I run THIS data file."

It sometimes crashes when I use gun optimization tool and "division by zero error' ocures but I've noticed it happends only when I use metric units.... also one more thing GGDT displays pressure drop in PSI even if you tick 'Bar' in configuration menu....
when I wrote 'it would be better if you add more functions' I meant that lg support isn't really something needed IMO so you'd spend your time better by adding more functions....
but I have one idea
It would be nice if there was a function that would allow GGDT to memorize muzzle energy and velocity of the gun so that you could make some changes (increase barrel etc) and then GGDT would show how much its energy and velocity improved in % yeah I know I can measure it myslef but it would be nice to have such function
