ok so ive decided to make the needed safety changes, working on sourcing out the parts locally, but im also looking to make some other changes

mounting to my 6'x8' trailer for mobility and a sturdier platform

figuring out a faster valve system (opinions welcome), preferibly something that i can trigger semi-remotely, not right at the cannon, but possibly near the trailer

possibly adding more air storage, and just making it bigger overall

is there anyway to get the barrel to move independetly from the air chamber and still stay airtight?

i plan on getting a compressor to mount to the trailer as well as a either an invertor that i can plug into my durango or a small generator

for a guy newer than me

For a valve that you want to be triggered electronically, a sprinkler valve is good. It will work better than a ball valve and will deliver more consistent performance, but won't be as good as it could be. Just read the instructions on modding it, and you can still trigger it remotely. A sprinkler valve is fairly easy to set up, because they don't need special connections. All they have is two wires. Hook them up to any switch or button and and two 9v batteries, and you're set.

also to secure my victory and to help you out you should go to the wiki and type in sprinkler valve or you could go to the how to forum. but since your a new guy ill let it slide after all we were all noobs once.(i still am) :D just remember that next time because a lot of people on this website will go all spastic and fame you.(me included  )

edit: darn you sneaking you are always well... sneaking :D

why not just a 12v car battery? i have like 7 of those laying around

so just use an off the shelf unit? and the solenoid on it?

the only modding info i have found is to use a blowgun trigger on it

Well, a 12v may fry it. Besides, 9v's are somewhere around 100 times smaller. The solenoid is what makes the valve works. Also, they cost about $10-$12. And yeah, the blowgun mod is what I was talking about.

well the reason i said use a blowgun is because blowgun vent it faster than an electronic solenoid. pm me if you need help because it is taking up a lot of space here to attempt to I.M you and the mods will get mad and lock this topic

got some new goodies

MUCH better ball valve, made from sch80, unlike the ones i see most people use, and the one i used to use, this one is like butter, a flick of the wrist and its fully open

similar to this one http://www.acehardware.com/product/inde ... 5938351134

but mine is grey sch80 and has threads on either end

also got gatorlock cam locks

http://www.tractorsupply.com/webapp/wcs ... ue&cFlag=1

that one goes on the chamber/valve

these go on the barrels

i had to get males, and make an adapter because they were sold out of the females, but i only have one for now so the rest will be the female version

pics coming as soon as photobucket stops being lame

Nice cam lock breech. Next, I suggest you try a sprinkler valve. Remote operation is a very cool thing to have, and with how simple that thing is, you could build like six of them and make a cardboard control box so you can fire them all really quick and get a really cool effect. Bonus points if you fire paper mache or easter eggs filled with flour.

I REALLY want to try paper mache bullets.

cant really use the camlock as a breach, at least for loading, my barrel is 2.5" and the largest i have found cams are 2"

and i have a remote fill/fire/refill system in the works stay tuned

and a loading setup but that can wait awhile
