Well, i was doing pressure tests of my high-pressure marble gun (soon to be posted) and i managed to get to 300 PSI without my sealing face popping. (in fact i think i have those issues figured out. To release the pressure, i aimed at a cardboard box and fired. To my suprise, this happened:

Image

at first glance, i was like "EEEEKKK THERE WAS A MARBLE IN THE BARREL" because first off, it was inside, and second off, the wall behind it was my parent's bedroom. (not smart i know..... dont call me out on it ok?) but on further inspection, there was only a hole in one piece of cardboard..... and then i realized that THE JET OF AIR PRESSURE PUNCHED A HOLE IN THE CARDBOARD!!!!!!!

has anyone ever done this before? and if you dont believe me ill make another video of this tomorrow. its quite the interesting pheonomena.....

yeah, I've had that happen a couple times with just a modified air horn.

can't say the cardboard was relatively thick but the concept was the same.

but yeah, a video would be nice, looks like some damaging.....air lol

I've accidentally blown the entire top layer of plastic off a table mat and caused all kinds of small objects to fly everywhere by blank firing a hybrid indoors. I wasn't even aiming at the mat; it was about 10" below the barrel.

Oh, and that's a nice round hole for just air. :)

hahaha i just realized the air blast also blew up a lightbulb in the adjacent box....... :D

EDIT: this cannon is getting a muzzlebrake......

This reminds me of the time i destroyed my glass light cover on my ceiling fan with an airsoft pistol.... Hahaha, that thing was the best.

haha one time one of those fell just by itself about a second after i fired my air rifle...... it took my mom about 2 days to figure out i didnt actually shoot it. she went as far as to re-construct the peices.....

I only shot off half, so I turned it around. The next day, I dug a spare out of the garage and replaced it. At least, I THINK that's what I did..... I can't really remember...

Air has also mass, and a blank shot gives off alot of high-velocity air. And if the air has enough kinetic energy, it just goes through.
You can also do this with fluids, think of those water-cutting machines which cut trough thick steel plates with just water.

Doesn't surprise me.
I get a considerable amount of recoil from blank shots at 300 psi, and that energy has to go somewhere.

The hole looks like it is a piece of green rubber glued to cardboard but I know it is a hole pretty cool.
