self rifling pneumatic?

This is very strange...

I have a very simple pneumatic:

1 inch modded sprinkler valve with 1.25 inch x 2 foot air tank and canon.

but when i was cleaning the barrel i sawed little lines who where making perfect rifle lines... they are pretty deep: approx .5 mm by 1 mm(enough to upgrade of 10 % the range).

How could that happen?

Plz answer...

What have you been using as ammo?

Only potatos, nothing else.

This came up a short while ago.

I was going to say that if you were using something with a sharp edge, like a deoderant can then it would carve out a line or two. But a full set of rifling grooves? That would require something a little more solid than a potatoe.

Some projectiles spin as they travel down the barrel anyway, due to increased friction on one side or so.

Do you have any pictures?

I KNOW!!!! I already shooted a potato with rocks on it and it was stucked

in the barrel when i shooted, i was very angry because i thinked the

it was no more usable but the next day i tryed it again and maked

KA-POW and rocks disapered of my sight range fu*** rapidely(like a

shotgun blast). it is maybe that...the rocks where having sharp ends.

but the lines are perfectly the way it as to be rocks could not had made

that. Very strange...

Jrrdw:

a simple 1 inchx1 meter wood stick

Far_cry:

The rifle lines are pretty small a picture would not help(you will not see them).

could one of the rocks you inserted have have a similar length to the barrel, only a bit longer so it could fit in the barrel only fit in a few ways
well my guess is that a rock went sideways during launch and happened to have an edge that was a little angled so it spun a little while grinding into the pipe

Maby that spud had a rock hard eye that gouged the marks in there. One on the way in, one on the way out.

those thing is acctually really strange :S

then i fired a buckshot of small screws out of a 1" copper barrel they acctually pierced it.. so i don't think it could have been something really hard/big that caused it in PVC

i actually tried to do this with a barrel once..........

it was a bunch of nails perfectly moulded in a hunk of epoxy......

problem was, they kinda ripped out of the epoxy and ripped the barrel to SHREDS.

all i can say is your lucky.........

I think i am more lucky then you think VH-man: i looked in the barrel of
my crappy 1 inch ball valve canon and they are the same 5 perfects rifle line!!!

This is the most strang thing that never hapened in the spudgun history!

This it not strange, i built a hybrid "hot three piece" that did the exact same thing.
I also made a thread about it, "self rifling ammo"
Yes it happens.
