A High pressure solenoid valve

I have found on ebay a high pressure solenoid valve rated for 3000PSI it has been taken from a 1950's warbird and am wondering how the best way to "mod" it while still retaining the ability to take it to pressures of 1000PSI+ I haveno idea whether I can acheive that, my idea is to take an old hydraulic compressor and just disconnect the water inlet hopefully it can provide a good pressure. the main questions are:
1. the safest way to mod it
2.the best way to use it to its full pressure
3. the best type of cannon to use it in

P.S. it only cost me $20 AU

keep it electronic, and use it to pilot another valve that can take the pressures as well.

This way, you can have a VERY effective trigger.........

but the thing is VH_man where can I find another valve that can take this pressure, but I might be able to find a QEV with the right specifications but that will cost much, much more than the $20 australian dollars that I paid for this, because really price is the only reason stopping people making high pressure supersonic cannons. My goal for this cannon is to make a 1000fps+ 10mm cannon operating at extremely high pressure for under $150 U.S, so far I have got these parts:

1.5m 10mm steel high pressure pipe rated for 5000Psi for barrel $30

the valve $20 AU
high pressure racing motor bike presta valve rated for 1500PSI (the weakest part) $10 AU
assorted fittings rated for 5000PSI $05 AU
I still need:
a chamber
a welding station or tap and die set

there is more stuff I've forgotten its late here :(

Maybe you should just test how fast it's open time is with an electrical source and maybe beef it up (voltage/amperes). Maybe seen as it would be out of an aircraft it would be fast enough anyway..

If your going to pilot it maybe a hi-flow blow gun, modded sprinkler valve or spring operated bv. You probably would want the ballvalve if your running (pilot) at 1000+ psi.

Who cares how fast it opens? It's 3000 motherfucking PSI. Make the barrel long enough and it'll go to the moon.

It will only go to the moon if you aim it in the correct direction. What was it being used for on the aircraft?

You won't find a QEV for that pressure.

3000psi is a crapload of pressure for pneumatics and rarely used let alone dumped at that pressure (where did I put that soundproofed full body suit...).

You might find that kind of pneumatic pressure in an aircraft as an accumulator which is literally a pneumatic chamber hooked up to the hydraulic system to keep up the pressure without the pumps on. For a while at any rate.

The danger with that hybrid system is that you now have the high pressure of hydraulics with the high stored energy of pneumatics = not something you feel around for leaks with your hands unless you like missing fingers.

I was extremley dissapointed when I read this, sure I had just made $29.30 profit and have done nothing to earn it. but take away from that all the high pressure parts I have bought since winning the auction and I have lost money, as I said before this is very dissapointing as I was looking forward to making one of the highest pressure pneumatics on the site.

can I have a cookie? :lol: now I am trying to make a high pressure piston, but they aren't my forte so if on the news you hear that a piece of steel just fell from the sky in ohio, its from my gun. :lol:

there were pic's but I can't find then now that its ended, it was steel looks old (its 60 years old LOL) it had the input, exhale and cylinder ports -that's what they were labeled- and it looked like a sprinkler valve except more rectangular than round.

it was pretty decent of that guy to give you $50 dollars... but you won that valve fair and square, you should see if there is any way of getting more compensation through ebay or something

nah, the guy was cool and promised me if another valve comes on he will contact me first privately, so heres hoping for another, meanwhile I am using the high pressure parts in a cannon with a QEV so if I get one, all I have to do is switch out the valves.
