just like to say hi to the community and have a question. i have owned a couple of combustion guns before and have always loved pressing a spud over the barrel and slicing the potato to the exact size, just wondering, is it safe to use this same method on a pneumatic gun??

also, can someone point me in the right direction for a first time pneumatic launcher?

Thanks

Yes it's safe. Just be sure you load the potato before you air up your chamber. If you do that, you can treat it just like a muzzle loaded spray and pray.

ok sweet as, also are there any dangers in pressurizing the chamber first? and any other ways u would recommend to load a pneumatic spud gun?

Sometimes if you use a valve other than a ball valve when you push the potato down it can set off your valve and you could shoot yourself.

My recommendation would be to make a modded sprinkler valve for your first pneumatic.

Modding a sprinkler valve:

If you have one with a guide rod, just drill offset/to the side of the rod.

2" piston valve cannon:

Quite advanced, I'd avoid it for a first time gun.

Also, with the potato thing, pushing a well-sealing projectile in may trigger valves with an equalization port eg. sprinkler valves (haven't tested, but it's best to be on the safe side..)

Welcome to spudfiles
