its not a valve, its for breach loading, you put it at the beginning of your barrel, and then open it, drop your ammo in, then close it, that way you lose no air pressure from the breech

That has been around for a while and has been used by many different people. It's still pretty cool.

And of course it also works as a valve, which if your ammo is tight fitting is one of the fastest valves there is.

What? A ball-valve? Fast? Don't make me laugh.

Well the reason it's fast is because until the ball-vavle is fully open, the ammo cannot move down the barrel, and if it's air tight enough, you don't lose any air. So no matter how ssslllooowwwlllyyy you open the ball valve, it is still incredibly quick.

It's the makings of a very simple, very effective repeating spudgun.

Remove the ball valve hand and hook it up to an electric drill and you've got a full auto marble cannon

Only if you're got a nice slow electric drill, too fact and it doesn't feed, the marbles bounce out like pool balls in a pocket.

Actually I reckon a cordless screwdriver would be better, lower speed, and high torque. And they're smaller too (he said eyeing up that €3 cordless screwdriver he bought last week down the market.)

Yea seriously, if that forstner bit had caught on (which I'm really surprised it didn't, because they're practically designed to be pretty aggressive bits, with a self feeding tip) it would just rip the valve from his hands, slapping them around a bit before he could even react - or wost, getting a finger stuck in one of the holes or nooks would surely result in a broken finger, if not a severely injured one!

In a machine shop I worked at a guy was slapping chips from a piece in a milling machine with gloved hand...Bit caught his glove, twisted his arm around, breaking a bunch of bones from his hand, wrist and arm...
On a lighter note, I was thinking that motor had considerably more force than a human arm can apply to a bow and arrow bow.

Depends on the Ball valve.
If it is larger, BV ball hole could be sleeved smaller with other tubing.
I have an odd one with about a 3/4" body, but 1/4" diameter hole in the ball part. Older ones spin very easily too.
Seems like when it's revolving (for an auto) some pressure would be inside the empty BV and enter the mag after the shot. Not much volume though. 8)

do you remember where you purchased the odd one with a different ball bore than the body size. i am trying this out for a paintball breach and i want the transition to be as smooth as possible. obviously if the ball bore is too big then there will be a lip where the barrel is inserted and this may be fine for marshmallows but i have a feeling this would split paint. if i got my hands on one with a small ball bore then i could drill it out just right.

do they sell ball valves were instead of sticking pipe into the valve you stick the valve into the pipe. then i could use an adapter and make that work fine.

anybody have a link to this being used in other projects? it would be greatly appreciated.
