Gday guys,
Quite a while back i got myself a 3" or 80mm hunter sprinkler valve rated to 220psi working pressure.
Scince then it has sat, but sit it shall no longer do, it shall rise the the occasion od un sittingness and furfil its destiny!!
*cough* anyway, here are some pics, first gun i am going to make with this beast is a small chambered small barrel compact gun for car storage and random shootings lol
Then when money allows i will build a biger chamber with poly so i can use it at 220!
Comments welcome.
UPDATE: Here is a pic of the proposed gun. The propane line is on QD to which a scrader valve can be hooked on instead, but mainly runing on propane from a 2kg.
I have glued the chamber and modded the valve. i tested the valve with a 1/2" BV pilot and it worked a dream! i found i cannon fill through the chamber unless it is sealed through pilot first if im using a bike pump. i have no barrel as of yet so no test shots were fred just dry shots.
It will be a 5 second gun as i call it, open propane bv, close propane bv, load GB fire and repeat.

Well, there's certainly an application for such a valve.
I would rather just make a piston valve, though, but that's just me.
DR and SpudMonster have both proved the power of these valves. I think all of their cannons using a 3" valve have used the exact same valve (the SAME valve... DR gave it to SpudMonster).

pilgrimman - yes, yes it is! Free large porting valves FTW
I would too mark if the prices on such fittings over 2" wernt so damn expensive, given this valve was free and all!
you havny got the links handy do you mark?

Nice! 3" sprinklers are usually hundreds of dollars. What did you pay for this?
Only downside: Its a sprinkler.
Just like a 1" sprinkler has the flow of a 3/4" QEV, this 3" one will not have a full 3" porting.
It would be a very good main valve for a 2 or 2,5" barrel, but for 3" your real valve porting will surely be smaller then your barrel. Which is something that is OK to do, but personally I would never use a smaller valve then barrel.
220 psi is nice for such a diameter though, and the size makes it a great valve!

I think you should get a bigger valve, this one is kinda small. bahahahaaa... Dam, just use a welded up 55 gallon drum for a main chamber. That might hold enough air.

Very, VERY impressive. I just finished work on testing a prototype launcher, it did less than spectacular. I bet if I had used THIS thing, it would have even compensated for the abhorrent dead space.Carlman wrote:yea and im moving to 5 acres of aussie bushland! 550m long and 100m wide, perfect spudding ground.SEAKING9006 wrote:Sigh.... What are you going as a pilot?
Not a long-hosed blowgun I hope..
It just screams for a QEV!

You know you could mod the QEV to fill from the chamber side. Just a suggestion.Carlman wrote:most likely a 1/2" bv as i want to chamber fill but we will see
