the stopper doesnt go all the way into the pipe. so i dont see how it could get stuck

A piston in a T at the breech of the barrel would be low dead space and still be over/under design.


I had suggested a Tee valve in the beginning of this thread :roll:

yes. i understand a tee would have been the best option. but when i ordered parts i didnt order that, and i didnt want to wait another week for a tee.

i also like the idea of the toolie piston and wanted to test it out

No worries. You built what you wanted to build.
Thats what makes the hobby fun, not building what other people to tell you.

The fact that you were the one to first put up a Toolies valve to modify your own design is good enough for me.

A QDV would be just as relevant as a toolie for this gun. That much dead space warrants a good valve.

Toolie valves are cool!

They enable you to place the exhaust valve in a completely different manner..

That way you won;t end up with just another T-valved cannon..

something a bit more original..dead space or not!

Has anybody tried a toolies piston in a tee configuration? That would combine better flow and cut down on weight because the rod isn't as long.

gun is drying right now. from our test fire it is going to work. will know for sure tomorrow. tomorrow night expect it to be in the gun showcase with alot of pics and a write up

Yep - That's the exact idea behind my "palindrome" piston. Works great! I have it employed in my "1 gallon" lancher, and a similar design in my "10 gallon" launcher.

who ever said the rubber stopper would get stuck was kind of right. instead of getting stuck, at 80psi the 2.5 inch rubber stopper was pushed all the way through the 2inch pipe and even bend the rod and went around one of the elbows. cut the gun in half and fixing it now. putting a big washer behind the stopped to prevent it from happening again

but when that stopper went all the way through it released the air and it was insane!

:D Maybe a hard washer on both sides of the rubber may prevent that, but then it goes back to the original question. Will it get pushed in tight and stick?

we sanded it down a little bit in the back so if it does get pushed it we can get it out. and the washer will prevent it from going in all the way.

Will be testing again tomorrow. Kind of sucked that we had to cut the gun in half and the elbows off to fix it
