tank size

i have a 3/8th inch piston on my 20 oz C02 tank
i believe cman11 told me that tank too big would it be a good idea to use a 9 oz C02 tank that i have for this 3/8 inch piston?

I think he may be right on that one. Download Gas Gun Design Tool (GGDT) and use it. It can model many gas guns and give you an idea on what the pressure is during the shot. A large chamber does increase the speed, but after a point there is little improvement so you simply waste a lot of air. Try modeling your launcher with various size chambers to see how much better a 20 oz is over a 9 oz etc. If hand pumping, a smaller chamber will be appreciated. A longer barrel can benefit from a larger chamber. Same with very heavy projectiles that take longer to exit the muzzle.

Shorter barrels and lighter projectiles don't need as much chamber.
