i have modded many sprinkler valves before, but my question is if its possible to fill the chamber by using the same modded sprinkler valve part. let me explain

can you use sprinkler valve like this:

and then put a tee on it instead of just the barb. that way you can fill it up and trigger it from the sprinkler valve. here is a similar setup, but i know this isnt with a rainbird

want i basically want to do is be able to use the sprinkler valve mod to fill and trigger the gun.

It can be done. The EQ port in the diaphragm is small so the fill time will take a while. The hazard with filling with the pilot side is the accidental discharge when you disconnect the air hose. For these reasons, this is why filling from the pilot is not recommended.

You could use a check valve and eliminate the chance of an accidental launch on hose removal.

True, for additonal $.. and that fixes just one of the problems.

The fill rate will be slower, but this will eliminate the problem of fill honking. If you've ever filled a sprinkler valve very fast the pressure overcomes the spring and opens the valve, make it honk and waste air.

Look at the 2nd picture. With that setup there shouldn't be a problem with accidental firing.

At least if you always remember to close the ball valve before disconnecting the fill hose.

There was a post a while ago with the idea of bypassing the air input...
fill valve -> sprinkler -> check valve -> hose -> chamber
...for a faster refill without honking.

Sounds quite good to me but I don't know if its feasible.

I modify most of my sprinkler valves to fill from the pilot side. It actually seems to perform better doing it that way to me.
