questions about barrel sealing tee piston valve

I plan on making a piston valve based on the one at http://i715.photobucket.com/albums/ww15 ... 1248468706 . would the air source(a bike pump in my case) go on the side of the tee labeled pilot? and should a spring be placed between the side marked pilot and the piston? Will air get to the chamber by leaking around the piston? thanks in advance for help.

yes it will leak around you may want to invest in an air crompressor though bike pumps are slow if you have a big chamber and yes it will go in the pilot side you may add a spring if you want

you are new. I'll be nice.. Look in the wiki under pneumatics then valves, then piston valves. Don't build something you don't know how it works.

It wasn't this guy. Doesn't matter, I'm gonna have chips anyway.

If you're filling from the pilot then there's no need for a spring. If you add a spring behind the piston, then you can fill via the chamber.

If I add an equalization hole, on what part of the piston should it be, and how big should it be?

In a nutshell EQ hole should be very small. The hole if placed in the piston goes from the pilot area to the chamber area. This lets air flow a little between them so the pressure is the same. It needs to be small so the air doesn't escape from the chamber to the pilot too fast when trying to fire it.

Small is relative to the size of the piston and pilot valve. Start really small. It's easier to make it bigger later if needed than try to make it smaller later.
