ok so i have mostly been making pneumatics mostly since my dad does not approve of cumbustions so if i can only do pneumatics whenever and not only when my dad sleeps lol then i want to go all out
Nerf revolver like this one
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7694&
need some help i dont really know how they work so if someone could link or (besides HowStuffWorks the website dosent work on my comp) explain them i would really appreciate it
but i want to have a barrel after revolving disk ammo holder like his last picture.

The revosemi uses a cam like the nerf maverick or Solar's eclipse.
Google or trial and error.

Yep, you could just grab a maverick off of ebay and pull it apart to see how it indexes et cetera.
Link
Or you could try PMing Solar. He isn't very active, and he has commercial interests so you may not get a reply, but if he's willing to help he could give you information on exactly what you're looking for.

As a hint, I suggest looking at pictures and videos of the Webley-Fosbery automatic revolver.
Aside from it being an epic piece of engineering, and one of my favourite firearm designs of all time, modifications on the idea are a good way of cycling rotary magazines.
The Eclipse uses a similar method, but based on the Mauser ZigZag revolver instead. The design makes it more complex to build, but means it cycles more conveniently.
Personally, if you don't need it to cycle like that (I suspect not), I'd go with the simpler Webley-Fosbery design. It's what I'm doing.

And a final suggestion, patents are an ideal place to begin searching.
That should set you moving I believe.

yea ill just have to do some searching then
ok i know i will get bashed for double posting but if i dont it will go old and instead i would have to make another topic so im going to start gathering parts and i am going to get a 1 sprinkler and 1/2 pvc for the darts shell but i still don't know how it works
what is he pumping thats firing?
how does air get into small tank behind sprinkler valve?
the wooden bolt shoots forward does it shoot back?
how is it revolving when he pumps?
how is the disk for darts staying in place ?
how is the sprinkler anchored to handle?
and how would i put a barrel after the dart cartridge?

A three-way valve, if we're thinking of the same thing.what is he pumping thats firing?
VIA the three way valve.how does air get into small tank behind sprinkler valve?
When the wheel rotates it probably forces the bolt back.the wooden bolt shoots forward does it shoot back?
Using a cam and indexing mechanism. You've had plenty of suggestions where to look. Hell, even pull apart an old cap gun.how is it revolving when he pumps?
Magichow is the disk for darts staying in place ?
Wouldn't it be a little obvious that it's being held there?
Looks like clamps and spacers to me.how is the sprinkler anchored to handle?
Have it supported by the central part that holds the magazine. You'll need tight tolerances for effectiveness.and how would i put a barrel after the dart cartridge?
And now, a quote from a very wise man:
do some searching then

ok i donkt know what you ment by indexing and cam like mech and also he is pumping a blue and silver thing in the vid he called a slide valve and it fires and rotates the disk how and why? where can i get one? does the sprinkler chamber fill with the hose running to it?
i know im dragging this on but i want to get this done
my main concern is to find out the firing mechanism and how it is going to rotate after every shot
also people suggested buying a nerf maverik but i don't see the point when i am a member of spudfiles and have very inteligent people who know how to exactly how to make one
so body has ever made an animated diagram on how these preumatic revolvers work?
Edit:
cmon i need this answered so post i need to double post here i now have the sprinkler valve and the small chamber behind it and am working on a wooden bolt but will someone explain the revolving mech and the slide valve mech and where does the sprinkler valve hose run to?

I think you should start off with a basic sprinkler valve cannon to get a feel for more powerful spudguns. Besides if you do actually make this the sprinkler is removable.
Yeah, it's that important.

i have already made a sprinkler cannon and a piston so i think im ready i also have a machine shop that i can use anytime just a short walk from the house

It's not that simple. It's about what you understand, not what you've built.colty-bear wrote:I have already made a sprinkler cannon and a piston so I think I'm ready
I mentioned two examples of designs/patents you could look at for ideas for an indexing mechanism, and I see no evidence you've looked at either.Ok I don't know what you meant by indexing and cam like mech and also he is pumping a blue and silver thing in the vid he called a slide valve and it fires and rotates the disk how and why? where can I get one? Does the sprinkler chamber fill with the hose running to it?
The slide valve (which you should be able to find with an internet search, they're also known as sleeve valves) is the main trigger. It's a form of three way valve. When forwards, it connects front and back. When back, it seals off the back, and vents the front to atmosphere.
Very useful for QEVs and piston valves, particularly repeaters.
It indexes the disk (indexing being sort of the fancy word for "rotating to the next position"), via a mechanism similar to the Webley-Fosbery, with a pawl in a specially cut track - converting the reciprocal motion into rotary motion.
The Webley-Fosbery uses recoil for the job of moving the pawl (technically, it moves the track past the pawl, but same difference), but many ideas based of it are manually cycled. The RevoSemi being one of them - where the pawl is connected to the slide valve.
I cannot stress this enough. Look at the Webley-Fosbery automatic revolver.
Because it's often easier to see than read - it's research. Just think of it as research you have to pay for. Also people suggested buying a Nerf Maverick but I don't see the point when I am a member of Spudfiles and have very intelligent people who know how to exactly how to make one.
Heck, all of my early cannons now prove little more than "research I had to pay for".
Also, you might not realise this, but we're not here for the sole purpose of answering the questions of newcomers to the hobby in minute detail.
Thinking "I don't have to do any research, the guys on Spudfiles will have an answer" is both ignorance of the fact we all have other things to do, and rather rude, simply using us for your own interests.
You should perhaps also think about where we learnt this stuff from. You'd be surprised at how little of what I know about spudding and its science was stuff I learnt from Spudfiles (and even less of it was from questions I specifically asked).
The forum can only work because there are people who do their research from other sources.

i need just a female x female 1/4 one way valve thingy. i needs to flow in one end and not be able to flow back is it a check valve? do they make them in 1/4 metal?
