Small Pumpkin Gun

I am hoping to build a small pumpkin gun for a family competition on Sat. I will be shooting small gourds

I have helped build some small pneumatic guns for tennis balls and was going to scale this up a little.

Do I need to go metal for a small gourd or can I stay with PVC. I have a lot of PVC at work as I am a golf course super. I will use a brass valve as time is near.

I did search the forum and did not find to much but I did find a lot of others designs that gave me and idea of what I might need. I am planning on a schroeder valve in the end of the chamber.

Update. The launcher is Complete. All sch 40. 6" barrel and chamber. Pressure checked to 20 psi and higher tomorrow.
Thanks For the help and ideas. Should be fun. This sucker is big and I need to build a frame.

Thanks Dan

PVC will work just fine and what type of valve are you using?

You can stay with PVC, depending on how much power you need we can probably put you in the right direction  so with that said, what kind of range are you expecting :?:

when i saw this topic, this one came to mind http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/p5-t88.html depending on how much your willing to spend and how much work you can do you can get 100 feet or 1500feet

Here it is!!! (at last)

I think its a very nice cannon. It uses a coaxail piston valve so you would get very good results if you made something similar. (sp?)
